*WABUMP* What was that? Oh, yeah, a shark...

By xanderf, in X-Wing

From BGG - someone posting a pic of a new toy coming in 'Force Friday'.

I...I think Disney has gone and jumped the shark, here...

oh boy

we're gonna need a bigger boat

Wow, that is quite ugly

Yep, I wonder where they got the inspiration? Back to the future DeLorean maybe? ;)

What?

I thought that was just an ugly new toy only design, turns out... it's an ugly rerelease:

Wtf, is a scout bomber? That's, like, an oxymoron!

Yep, plus its actually a Rebels toy. Kanan is the pilot.

maybe the bombs are scouts?

they probe the enemy with explosions :)

This may be Clone Wars, but hopefully this can wash that sh*tty "Y-wing" from your brain.

Hasbro, you don' f***ed up.

"Gulp" ... does this make it canon?

That's actually an immense relief, since it means Hasbro is just slapping the Force Awakens branding on their existing molds rather than adapting an on-screen starship.

gosh all these ugly pictures is starting to make this look good.

Hopefully it is not in episode 7, or do we start considering having to call J.J. Abrams, Jar Jar Abrams now?

Well, let's not draw TOO many conclusions. I mean, 'Clone Wars'-era ships appearing in 'Rebels' is...actually pretty normal and common. So blatant recycling of an older toy doesn't NECESSARILY mean it's just a 'least we can do' (literally) and that it won't be in the series.

I mean, I hope so...really, REALLY hope so...

gosh all these ugly pictures is starting to make this look good.

Scout bomber makes sense. Bombers often have long duration, and so are easily adapted to patrol roles. Think the PBY Catalina or P3 Orion.

Many toy companies come up with a small dumb looking vehicle for kids. Trust me, there are many many stupid looking vehicles in the Movie/TV section in toys. I am a father and I makes me cringe.

But this does not make anything canon, just a dumb looking toy.

for instance, thisoriginal-transporter.jpg

didn't stop it from showing up in Rebels, 35 years after it came out.

It scouts. If it sees something, it pushes BUTTAN. then bomb drops.

The y-wing was famous for being slow and tough. Never would see it as a scout. Makes me sad that people developing these things don't look into the history of what they are changing.

Well I remember owning this and it never made canon.
