Future Sourcebook Wishes

By Alisair Longreach, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Based upon the preview for Keepers of the Peace, I get the feeling that FFG isn't going to be doing Tradition-specific specializations.

So for things like White Current Adepts/Fallassi, Jensaurai Defenders, Dathomir Witches, Knights of Ren, and so forth, the most we should probably expect is a sidebar like we got in the FaD corebook about the Baron Do Sages of the Kel Dor. Something that essentially says "hey, here's this Force tradition that might make a cool story element for the PCs or an adventure!" but not anything in the way of actual crunch.

That's a good source for it's own sector supplement though.

Species: Neti, Miraluka, Krevaaki, Nazzar, Selkath, Kiffar, Pantoran, Zeltron, Arkanian, Cathar, Dathomirian, Vultan, Barabel, Epicanthix, Khil, Talz, Hapan and Shistavanen

Specs: Juyo, Watchman, Investigator, Reedemeer, Jensaarai, Force Witches, Knights of Ren

If we're just asking for things, I wanna see the Houk and the YU-410.

Jensaari Armorers are coming in Keeping the Peace, and Force Witches are just Mystics and Seekers.

I built a knight level nightsister who could throw lightning, sustain a bind, or sustain a glamour.(misdirect control) Her descipling could use improving, but you cant have everything.

Updated post. Thanks Rakaydos!

Rakaydos makes a good point about what to expect.

Take the Witches of Dathomir as an example; what are they? All female ritualistic warriors who view the Force as a kind of magic, more or less. Strip that of the fluffy bits ("all female" and "view the Force as a kind of magic") and you have a martial class who might have some Force talents that have a 'ritual' effect and call it a Ritualist or a Shaman or something. A one-size-fits-all specialization that can be used to create a Witch of Dathomir... and can be used on a character concept who has similar capabilities but isn't associated with a particular group. Repeat as applicable on the other Force traditions.

Warden references the Wardens of the Sky... but that doesn't mean that a character who picks Warden has to be one, or even know what they are. Armorer might mean a Jensaarai... or just a regular craftsman powered by the Force. Shadow might invoke the Jedi Shadows of old... or a Force sensitive adept at stealth. And so on. Bottom line: specializations will reference a particular group heavily, but will remain generic enough to be used for any concept you can conceive.

Yeah I don't think they'll do force tradition specific specs. Just maybe side bars that say "hey this works for this too". For instance the Amororer in the Guardian book isn't advertised as being Jensaari (not that I've seen anyway). But it likely will fit nonetheless.
