Can a twin laser turret shoot two different ships?

By Gadge, in X-Wing Rules Questions

We played today with a coin toss ruling that you have to fire both shots at the same target but is this the case.

Earlier I fired my first burst at vader (who had one hull left) and killed him so didnt take the second shot at rhymer (also on one hull).

Also I'm assuming by 'take 1 damage' that is a regular hit and any criticals rolled are discounted as a normal hit?

I'd say one target only, like twin-linked weapons in 40k :)

My strong bet is that it will be ruled the way Cluster Missiles are treated--two attacks against a single target.

And yeah, suffering 1 damage means regular damage.

Cheers, it made sense and i played it that way but when it could have been a game changer we decided to toss a coin, heads it could shoot different ships and tails only one.

And chance went with what we thought was the more common sense option :)

My group plays it as both attacks must be at the same target, while we await an official ruling.

The theory is, it will be easier to adjust our play habits to a more powerful two-target ruling, rather than the other way around.

The wording on the card is too similar to Cluster Missiles, which are both attacks on the same target. I agree with Vorpal Sword that it's going to be the same. Playing it any other way at this stage, may set yourself up for further confusion if and when they decide to FAQ it.

1 target only.

One target, otherwise you can triple stress bot a target (Because you declare attack targets X3) and I am sure you cannot! It does not act like a gunner attack where you can declare a 2nd target and double vader crit.

Declare target -> Attack (Card lets you attack X 2) but not allow you to declare again.
