Am I the only one not particularly excited for this weekend?

By FTS Gecko, in X-Wing

I mean, I'm interested to see what (if anything) happens to our beloved game over the next few days, but the way I feel right now I'm not going to be rushing out to buy or order anything.

This time last week I was impatiently waiting for my FLGS to unload it's delivery van.

I am actually most excited about what ELSE they will be allowed to announce tomorrow. I'll be in midnight lines, but the real meat of FFG's Ep 7 stuff will probably be in the 2 other unspoiled SKU's.

I'll probably go out and grab the core set tomorrow, but other than that I don't really care about the new toys and stuff that are coming out. I figure everything will be spoiled by the time I wake up tomorrow so I can take my time perusing the new stuff.

Very apathetic. Especially since I'll be out of town this weekend. Won't have a chance to play x-wing for a few weeks.

I'm not that bothered either.

Being the first to own the latest toy spaceship isn't high on my list of priorities; they'll be in the shops when I want to buy them, and if not? Meh.

Cheers

I'm definitely not excited for Ep7. I am for Rogue One, however.

And I'm not exactly looking forward to some of the changes that it seems Ep7 will be bringing to X-Wing, either.

I really, really want to fly those new TIEs...

No I'm not all that worked up either.

I guess there's too many questions yet. Some of us know what's in the core but don't know if there will be expansions or what yet.

Also I'm not going to get it from Target, so until my LGS gets them in I'll be without.

But the new X-Wing, Tie/FO and damage deck do look to be pretty cool and could make for a great addition to the game. The whole triple action w/BB-8 does look to be fun.

I'm super excited. There's so much new, wonderful content coming out this year. I almost love it all. Still waiting on a final verdict for Battlefront.

So, 2-3 months after release? Maybe?

I'm not a fan of crowds, so the idea of going out to wait in line for something isn't my cup of tea.

I'm also between pay periods and have no extra money to buy stuff, so it's more depressing than anything to know new stuff is out there that I can't have.

I'm always excited for the weekend, as I don't usually have to work on those days.

And this weekend is extra long in the US, so even more reason to be excited! The fact that there are Star Wars toys coming out is just icing on the pie.

I honestly don't know, man. I'll be playing the beta due to having direct access to a PS4, but other'n that, can't say for sure.

I, personally, cannot wait for our Disney Overlords to throw out all existing ships/pilots from the now-defunct Expanded Universe so that we can have more "Omega Ace" and "Epsilon Ace" ships.

I actually kind of like the more general ace pilots.

Lets me put whoever the hell I want in that cockpit.

Also I am 100% stoked about the book releases. I've always wanted a replacement for the Sii-Ruu garbage. Even when I was little I recognized how bad that was.

the new ships are grossly overpowered. why am i supposed to be excited over bad design? Its worse than murder.

It feels like I'm sitting in a horror movie attempting to appeal to people's wants of grotesque desires like power and gore and greed/

dooom glooooooobm

I think the new books are similar in quality to the original Bantam EU books: a lot of standalones where some are winners and some are just boring. Luckily the new novels don't have anything ridiculous like the Crystal Star or the Fate of the Jedi series. The editors finally realized that confusing stories about Force powers and Force beings don't compare to good ol' plot and characters.

On a side note, I liked the Ssi-Ruuk in The Truce of Bakura; I thought that was one of the better EU novels.

So I should go out and spend $40 on a new damage deck? All new pilots are at least 30 years older than the core set stuff, so it does fit in for me thematically. Plus the colors don't really get my blood going. I will probably pick them up , but not right now. I still want more from last weeks release and I'm saving for the next. I really can't wait for the "Ghost".

I was meh about Force Friday until I saw the video for a remote control BB-8 you control via an app on your smart phone. As Will Smith said in ID4, I've got to get me one of these....oh, and a new core set too.

Totally and completely neutral on Force Friday. Would I line up? No. Will I buy stuff? Sure, but likely not tomorrow. I don't disagree with the tactic, but it didn't work on me. I have learned patience.

I have also learned disappointment, which further tempers any excitement I may have felt. I stood in line for episode one, long remembering sitting in theatres for the original trilogy. Saw the movie three times in 48 hours of opening and liked it less with each viewing and have never again sat through the entire thing. I fear Wendig's Aftermath will be a disaster in itself leading to a greater disaster. I reserve the right to reject Disney's reality and live quite contentedly in a timeline no lover canon.

I am happy the new films are bringing new toys... but I can wait until MM & CS have them in stock. I have gotten use to buying on line.

The truth is, the failure of some of the retailers carrying the new core set to keep it under wraps is where the big failure for this was. I would be going CRAAAAZY tomorrow if it was the first time I was seeing the new core set. As is, it's much more a "$40? I can wait..." type of reaction.

Agreed this would have had greater impact
