I've been chasing my little chihuahua around with it and it's great. She's normally terrified of rc stuff, but since it looks like a ball and doesn't make a high pitch motor noise, she actually tries to play with it a little...... then bb8 goes nuts triggering some preset script beeping expletives at me and flashing red.
The only downside is his head has 2 little wheels similar to old mouse ball wheels.... they pick up everything. A quick detour under the couch and it was a flying hairball.

Price tag puts me off.
But like the patient hunter I shall wait. Once all the excitement has subsided, and Xmas shopping is over. While everyone is weeping over their credit, and counting the cost after the spending. When Episode VII has had its time in the spotlight, and everyone is speculating about Episode VIII.
That is my time to act.
