new core set?

By frogy84, in X-Wing

It has been a long time since Ribann decided to grace us with his presence....

1. it begin released only at target no other stores so there for target only and limited edition

2 it a new core set meanings x-wing2.0 so you have to get it to play

but can only get it at target is a **** move .

This is my understanding

Edited to reflect the truth

Target may have gotten first dibs on releasing it- They got to release an exclusive Star Wars Miniatures Starter/Scenario set when WOTC had the license, which makes me wonder if Target has some sort of agreement with whoever controls the license. On the other hand, it might be that other big box retailers have been better at keeping things secret.

And, while it seems odd, it does actually make some sense for FFG to release the new starter set at big box stores only- This way, if/when there is/was a leak, they have a legal department they can work with to control it, instead of having to get bad PR from brandishing the weight of their legal team against an FLGS.

Then you understand nothing.

frogy84 is a troll. Can we stop feeding him.

We have heard (directly from our LGS) that they will be getting them, it's that distributors cannot ship until the 4th. So, Target (and perhaps Walmart) will be getting them first, with them trickling into the LGS and typical online retailers (CSI, MM, etc.) the following week, depending on location, availability, etc.

Also, FFG always posts PDFs of the rule books, so expect a new rulebook, for free, on the website shortly after release in case you can't get one right away.

Sky =/= falling

Oh? So exactly what I have been saying for the past 2 weeks?

And as I said, I bet I could go into the FFG event center tomorrow and get one.

My understanding is that distributors can't even take orders until Friday. Our local FLGS is sending a car to the distributor for immediate pick-up Friday morning.

Frogy is apparently an ex-WK40K player, so s/he's used to being screwed over every new release. I'm sure that kind of thing can take years of therapy to get out of your system.

As Amazon are also a part of the Force Friday release (they have a countdown on their website) I'm wondering if it will be available there, too?

As a chronic insomniac, I may well head to a Target tonight just to enjoy the madness in the same way I have gone - without intention of purchasing anything - to the Black Fridays at WalMart. Talk about the underbelly (most of which is hanging over the edge of their jeans) of humanity!

I have seen with other things: the ma/pa store gets word that a new product is coming out for something they support but can't be revealed until such a time. The store places their order then on release day they either drive to a set location for pickup or the manufacturer schedules a morning delivery time with a set courier.

That being said, it'd be easier for FFG just to let stores order it tomorrow and pay whatever for the speed of shipping they want.

You never ever had to pay anything for rules in X-Wing. They are free to download and there are no reasons to believe that would change. Do your research.

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/x-wing/on this site you can scroll down and open the "support" tab. There you can download the basic rules, huge ship rules, tournament rules and the rules FAQ. It is that easy.

All believe what i want i don't get why people can't seey point of view.

And i don't get free rules i believe in buying for rules like all other games

i don't get why people can't seey point of view.

Because it's not a point of view. There's these things called facts and now that we're starting to get more of them we know what will happen. For example, it will not be a target exclusive.

And i don't get free rules i believe in buying for rules like all other games

There are no new rules, there is at most additions to the existing rules and perhaps the FAQ/Errata is included in the new rule book.

The only thing new in the TFA core set, other then the ships is the new damage deck.

When a new starter set comes out means s new rules edition. why would it be any different i need one needs new starter set to play after tom

You've gotten the answers to all your questions. Yet you disregard the answers you get. Why did you post in the first place if you don't actually want an answer.

Gonna keep this simple

WRONG.

When a new starter set comes out means s new rules edition.

No it does not. There is not going to be a new rules edition.

There is nothing in the new core set that you actually need to play the game with other people. You can get it or not get it, and it will change nothing.

And at this point, if you still don't get it, I'm just going to put you down as a troll and ignore you.

X-Wing isn't W40K, and FFG isn't GW.

FFG has consistently demonstrated that they update their rules as they go, and introduce new concepts. Furterhmore, the rules are available for free on their website. You have absolutely no evidence to support your claims.
