With Target as the initial focus for releasing the new FFG X-Wing core set, I am wondering whether it will be an item that they eventually put on clearance. Kind of like what happened with the first core sets, where some people were lucky enough to find them on the cheap.
I am surprised that they agreed to sell the game - considering the past experience of a slow moving item. Maybe it is just bundled in the deal with all of the other Star Wars clothes and toys.
Considering each store seems to only have 12 in stock, I find it doubtful it will go on clearance.
It will. It happened with the first Core Set. It all depends on your local area, though. If your local Target has it on the shelf a year after it's been there, it will go on Clearance. Mine didn't have any as they all sold out.
The 12 sets now are just the first wave. If they sell those, they will probably order more. If not, then they won't.

Who don't think of Target as the place to go get product.
Really depends on whether or not Target restocks after the initial interest. Friday will be huge sales... afterwards, people will return to their LGS and/or online retailers. I expect Target to not restock heavily. If some stores end up sitting on extra copies after the initial rush, you may see clearance at some point, but not until after the movies/holidays, I would guess.
