I know i do
It's incredibly childish but i quite like a high ratio of likes to my posts as I get the impression I must be saying *something* sensible and not spamming the forum.
Does anyone else pay attention to theirs or is it just me?

I do, too, for the same reasons.
(Also, it was a nice bit of reassurance when someone accused me of being a hateful bully in every thread I enter.)
You see i'd like my 'likes' to draw equal to my posts but you're almost doubling your post count so you're clearly hitting the mark with comments ![]()
I don't worry if a post isn't liked. I've had positive responses without a like so have assumed that a "like" means more than just liking what's read.
But seeing a "like" does increase my happy while here and I click on the "a post you made" part to beam into the topic to see what I said and if I got a response or quote. Having someone react to a comment means to me what likes mean to you.
But because you like to be liked I'll like your post to increase your happy
There should be an unlike button too.
I have two warning points. Kind of proud of that. ![]()
I have to admit that I was just tickled the first time one of my posts got the "popular" star.

I'm surprised there isn't one!
It would warn someone that they'd said something people didn't like before it got to the point of being warned.
I'd had 'popular' *once* for the same post/thread that got me my one and only warning too (but also indirectly got me talking to the mods and got us subforums) and that was for the 'is bacon overpowered' parody of the endless sky is falling threads we had at one point.
An unlike or thumbs down button would actually probably remove a lot of unnecessary and inflammatory post as its half way to the 'report' button which at the moment is your only recourse if something is out of order short of starting a row.

I can't remember now what my first "popular" thread was, but my second was the recent PSA about not posting the leaked pictures. I didn't get as excited about that one because it wasn't really "content" that I was posting.
I was also very happy that my very first post on this forum got 16 likes. Made me feel like I had something to contribute.
Is the trigger for 'popular' an amount of likes in total, or likes per hour or 'most liked on page'?
I've never been quite sure.
It's total number of likes.
The number is 25.
Yeah sometimes I feel like maybe I'm getting carried away or getting to aggressive or something, I tend to be somewhat of a 'in your face' type in a debate.
But seeing how many likes I have lets me know that even if I get a bit carried away sometimes, people generally agree with what I say.
I also find that there's some people I put more weight behind on a like then others. There are also the rare case where a like might be a bad thing... a "if he likes it, maybe I am wrong..." type thing.
Vorpal's 2:1 beats the rest of us pretty bad.
Edit: poking around some of our other more popular and less spammy posters I think he might have the best ratio on the forum for any frequent poster.

I suspect this feeling isn't universal, but I miss WonderWAAAGH.
but I miss WonderWAAAGH.
Once you knew how to read his posts, I found him to be a welcome part of this community.
Everytime I read his name my mind's voice says it in a funnier voice than every other word. wonderwaaAAAAAAAAAAAGAH
I like to keep track of it too. I'm doing pretty good on my "likes".
I wish there were more ranks, for lack of a better term. I think once you hit 100 it says "Excellent" and then nothing after that.
I had no idea there was such a feature. I think I won't look for it for fear of being depressed.
I only ever 'liked' a post if it really, really resonated with me.
I only ever 'liked' a post if it really, really resonated with me.
The hard part was finding the right frequency.

The hard part was finding the right frequency.
I tend to like posts with high amplitude.
Well, we can wave goodbye to this thread.
