Star Wars custom crawls

By Galth, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Looking for a good way to make one.

1. http://www.starwars.com/games-apps/star-wars-crawl-creator is terrible. The music fades before playing all the way through and just loops awkwardly. I'd also like the ability to play custom music.

2. I don't have Move Maker XP (running Windows 7) but if I can get it to exist on a machine that has MM7, I'll use it with no other choices.

3. I don't have an iPhone.

What are my options?

Blender is an open source CG program. To be fair if all you want to do is make a star wars crawl, this is akin to using an intercontinental ballistic missile to kill a spider.

This program is available for download at http://www.blender.org or through steam if you use that service for the low low price of nothing.

now the learning curve for Blender can be HUGE if you aren't familiar with CG applications, BUT a convenient you tube tutorial for a "scrolling sci-fi text" that is step by step for new users can be found here:

Now, that tutorial will get you most of the way home. When rendering the animation, i would recommend having Blender output each frame as a separate image and then use something to encode the frames into a video with sound. Fortunately, Blender can also do this, but you will need to look at a different tutorial for putting this together. A good tutorial can be found here: http://www.blenderguru.com/tutorials/rendering-animations/

Now, to add your own music, while in Blender's Video Sequence Editor, you can add music and sound to the timeline just like you did with the image strip (Shift+A) and then select a music file instead of an image, video, or sequence of images.

Hope this quick answer helps!

Editing Scoundrel: Huh... Youtube links turn into embeds... good to know.

This one's been handy for my group:

Neat! How do you change the music on that one? Do you have to upload it somewhere as both an .ogg and .mp3?

It looks like that's the case, I saw the links in the top of the html portion. Those files look to be hosted on codepen's cdn so if one were to fork this project for one's own use, one might be able to upload custom music to their system.

Is it possible to make it full-screen?

I recommend using windows movie maker 6.0 it works well on windows 8 and it has setting for scrolling wordz. There are also some good tutorials on youtube.
