Decloak Question

By USCGrad90, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Ran into a situation where I was cloaked and had one of my ships about 10mm to the right of me, and obstacles to the left and in front of me.

Based on the wording my opponent and I agreed that it was OK to decloak through my other ship on the right, because I would completely clear the other ship.

I don't normally run a Phantom, so this was new to me and my opponent also had a little hesitation on the right call.

Is this correct? Maneuver template can't overlap an obstacle, but is OK for a ship base.

The Decloak Reference card wording that we used to make that decision is below:

"A ship cannot decloak if it would overlap another ship or an obstacle token, or if the maneuver template would overlap an obstacle token."

Yeah, you can decloak through ships (as long as you clear it) but not obstacles.

You were correct,

There are three conditions in the decloak rule, contained within two.

To put it another way,

A ship cannot decloak if it would overlap another ship or an obstacle token.

A ship cannot decloak if the maneuver template would overlap an obstacle token.

Same of boost, isn'it it?

Thanks!

Same of boost, isn'it it?

Yes, and barrel roll. Due to the (normally) shorter distance of these actions, it doesn't happen as often, but it can.

Apologies to OP for hijacking the thread, but in a related question: When you decloak and do the '2' move, do you then wait for right spot in the sequence of Pilot Skills to conduct the Phantom's manouver, or do you do the whole thing ('2' and dial) before everyone else?

You don't actually activate and move your Phantom until it's your turn according to your PS.

You decloak at the beginning of the Activation phase, then activate according to the PS.

Great. Thanks for the help.
