In case there was any doubt still about Target

By GiraffeandZebra, in X-Wing

Ok so the ones by me say they have between 10-12... and one says they have 5! Does that mean that one might have it on the shelf already?

Mine said 11 at the store but 0 available. Maybe they've been delivered, but not actually entered into the inventory yet? I'm not sure how that works, so just speculating.

On the Fyndly thing... What's the difference between the inventory numbers in green and the ones in orange?

The closer this gets to friday, the more it seems like this will be a US Target day 1 release with everyone else able to order it. Not a peep about it being available anywhere but Target. As a Canadian, I hope i'm wrong.

Is it true that this is a different core set than what is available at my FLGS right now?

Yes.

Does your FLGS have Episode VII core sets?

How much you wanna bet Target ends up putting the ORIGINAL core set back on the shelves instead of the new one... I'm talking all those old ones they've had on clearance for the past couple years! ha ha!

On a serious note, I just went down to Target (One that won't be opening until 8 AM tomorrow morning) and they have 3 aisles full of Star Wars tags, backdrops, and empty shelves, which a new employee was wiping down. I checked the listings, and there was no mention of an X-Wing game for 39.99. The only thing I coudl find is some Star Wars "6 in 1" game for liker 20 bucks. Unless they still have more to put out, I shall remain somewhat confused. Maybe it's not going with the board games or with the star wars toys. Or maybe I simply missed it.

All the Targets I checked for my zip code showed 10 to 12 copies ... except for one that showed 4. Might have to check that one out... :)

No the product title says it's the Episode 7 core set. It's the new deal.

They may have some sitting in the back room waiting for midnight tonight, but I don't know for sure. I haven't bought into X-Wing yet, so I'm wondering if I should get the old core set first.

What ships do you like more?

We don't know yet if there'll be anything to help the T-65 X-wing out so right now if you want to play as rebel the new one is better. If you want to play as Imperial and use Tie swarms the old one is better.

Just to corroborate the other posts here my local targets all show 11 as well. Who decided it was 12 in a box? Or did I miss that info somewhere?

I think possibly target is giving each of their stores more or less depending on what thy think the demand will be at those stores. Maybe basing it off of past sales? Just a guess. Unless someone knows for sure they all get 12 no matter what.

No midnight opening Targets near me... anyone know how to do a similar check for WalMart?

Maybe they have 11 of them to share between every Target. the 12th being the one the guy spoiled.

I'm not a fan of large stores like this, but that article was written 9 years ago. Things can change, right? Grain of salt and all that.

They made big news last year for a new anti-union PR campaign. They raised their starting wage this year, following a similar move by Wal-Mart.

Unless you're planning on ignoring the original TIE fighter (and you shouldn't), the original core set is a pretty good deal.

12, or less, per store seems like a really low number to me.

Myself I'm waiting until I find out from my LGS if he can get the core set in or not, and if there's any other products before I buy anything.

I sort of feel like maybe FFG didn't manufacture all that many units. They needed something to unveil and sell tomorrow but they probably made enough so every target could get a box of them and shipped them pronto, so the rest are probably "on the boat"

Or maybe they sent just enough to target to meet their contractual obligations, and are holding the rest at their distributor for the gaming stores that really support their game? Just a thought. That's what I'd do if I were in charge.

And get the game in front of a bunch of people who might not otherwise know about it, and who (at least tonight/tomorrow) are primed to buy new Star Wars stuff. Some of those people will pick the game up, like it, and show up at an FLGS looking for more.

yeah that makes sense too, the trouble with optimism though is tat just leaves loads of room for disappointment.

Disappointment leads to anger, anger leads to hate.

Ok, now on Brickseek it's showing 12 on hand, 11 as saleable. Fyndly doesn't even list my closest store in the results. Which of these sites is more reliable/accurate?

ETA: Forget that last part; it didn't list the stores based on proximity.

I'll probably be picking one up (if possible). I doubt I will be pleased with the way this release turns out (especially if Target sells out before I could get one).
