Like the title says, I've been "saving myself" for the movie to come out. I've been actively avoiding any and all media, including trailers and news articles, regarding the film. I posted on a blog about it (here if you wanna check it out), but I'm essentially afraid of all the surprises getting ruined for me. Sure, I assumed all the old actors were going to come back, but I didn't want to actually know it. Every cool thing I see (for example, the x-wing pilot helmet design) takes even a little surprise and downgrades it to simply information.

I dunno, maybe I'm just making life difficult for myself. The upcoming "force friday" really has me anxious as well, so I'm not sure how I'm going to avoid that.

What do you guys think?

Your kindness knows no bounds. Though I have gotten really good at avoiding spoiler ambushes. Between now and release date I'm essentially "on guard".

I tried that for all of 4 hours before I caved in. the trailers are glorious and you'll cry many tears of joy if you watch.

Yeahhhhh....been kind of in denial about that one. So far, everyone in my group has been pretty respectful, but I doubt anyone would be willing to "hide" their new ships (nor would I expect them to). Im going to just...deal with it when it comes up I guess. To be fair, the new xwing was spoiled for me and know there's a new tie fighter, just not what it looks like

I tried for a bit. I don't mind the trailers and such but I don't want to see all the toys. I was mad when I learned the bad guy's name. But I am going to get the new Core Set tomorrow. My X-wing addiction wins out. But I'm going to have to go in with blinders on.

Avoiding spoilers might get a bit tricky one these threads. Especially since FFG has the licence for Ep VII. Then again it's unlikely we'll see finished models before the movie comes out. Also Vader is Luke's father! Oh wait... That's not much of a spoiler I guess.

Update to the original post here. Ended up attending a local Force Friday and encountered a spoiler (though a minor one). Overall, it was pretty awesome!

Looking back I probably should have got the original core set, and got the TFA set 3 months or 4 months from now. Because now I have all these ships from the new film, but no expansions for the corresponding era and stuff. If I had got the original, I could have instantly got ships to match the era like the tie advanced or interceptor. But until FFG makes episode 7 expansions i'm stuck with the starter ships. I do not want to mix eras...there is a 30 year gap and those ships don't belong on the board together IMO.
