Sorry. I'm resurrecting this old thread. Because its been 3 years. I've searched the forums and this is all I could find about the lack of choices in the Profile Avatar/Photo department.

Is there a reason why FFG does not want us to have Star Wars ships as our Profile Photo? I can understand why FFG does not let users upload custom images. But, X-Wing and Armada posts outnumber all other FFG products by a huge factor. X-Wing is their flagship product line. Yet, users can't have their favorite starfighter or captial starship as their Profile Photo.

If not spaceships, how about more choices from the Legion product line? Like Death Troopers, Shore Troopers, Sith Troopers, Clone Troopers, Dog Troopers (?!).

Choices are pretty limited. I've searched thru the Avatar list repeatedly and nothing screams to me, "I'm the ONE".

Another option for FFG is holding an annual Avatar Design Contest.

Anywho, I'll step off my soapbox and continue enjoying FFG's products. Thanks. Fly True, Aim True, and May the Force be with You.

I've always wanted a ship avatar. I'm stuck with this one because it's as close as I could get at the time to a TIE pilot. A bit disappointing.

I'd actually really like a Grand Inquisitor avatar...

Honestly, it really frakkin' IRKS me that we STILL don't have ANY good starfigher rep anymore. This is like, all wave 2 stuff!

Would love to trade Plo's face for his ship. Or gimme a tie defender!

Sometimes you just have to ask and the forum gods grant the world a 12 hour period where you can upload custom avatars. Still suprises me that we got to keep them!

I'd currently just like to have an avatar! Still getting an error no matter which browser I used, and reporting the bug seems to be getting no-where. Perhaps I am forever a floating white P on a pink background.... I cannot think of a suitable pun or humorous addendum to this.

But yes, obviously I sympathise and it's a touch ridiculous. I get not wanting custom avatars to be a thing because some internet dwellers have the emotional maturity of beano characters and would decorate their profiles in insulting and/or obscene images just to prove they could, but there's no logical reason that some of the substantial stock of artwork FFG has - has commissioned itself, for that matter - couldn't be made available to players in what's supposed to be its single most popular and profitable game....

You're SO lucky you and a few others managed to get a custom avatar. I'm very jelly. How long ago did FFG gave you this 12-hour window?

Exactly! FFG has many superb art from their products -- astromechs, starfighters, capital ships, planets, troopers, walkers, weapons, etc.

Personally, my top picks would be:

• AT-AT
• AT-TE
• LAAT
• ARC-170
• Death Troopers
• Tie Defender
• Tie Phantom
• E-Wing

Probably has something to do with the license agreement.

Also, license agreements are why I’m never changing my avatar, won’t ever be able to go back to the badass Witch Hunter.

I picked this creepy robed dude because he's kinda close to a Sith. I too would love some proper ship avatars.

I’m switching to this guy because he kind of looks like he’s wearing a Star Trek uniform and that’s hilarious

It happened when they migrated their forum accounts to Asmodee accounts (so some time close to FFG being bought by Asmodee), someone probably forgot to turn off custom avatars. It lasted for half a day and only a small number of users noticed. I honestly expected them to delete the uploaded images, but nobody took anything offensive and we just got to keep them.

Most likely the reason. Yet, all those commissioned art are going to waste. FFG selected some great artwork for their products. Blame The Mouse.

Hahaha! Recently, I've been wearing Star Trek tshirts to tournaments. About half of the players notice. But, when I say farewell, I do with with Spock's "Live long and prosper" hand sign.

Thanks for the history of the custom avatars. Wish I was an active user back then. In 2014, I didn't know there was a FLGS in my city until years later.

Here's hoping FFG gives us more Star Wars avatars.

Karabast. Wish I'd noticed that. Gamblertuba is supposed to be a Lego B-wing pilot. Anyone that plays in the vassal league should know this.
