Eisenhorn - Has anyone tried to stat him up?

By johnnyper, in Dark Heresy General Discussion

Just curious.

Highborn home world? I don't remember what kind of world DeKere's is.

Background probably Astra Telepathica.

Role I could see him as either a Mystic or a Seeker.

Psyker obviously.

Inquisitor obviously.

Willpower up the ying yang.

Really the only dump stats might be strength and agility though I think both are helped by his augmented assist system.

Anyone?

The character of Eisenhorn first appeared as one of the sample characters in GW 's Inquisitor skirmish game (the original trilogy [ Xenos / Hereticus / Malleus ] was written to support that game). The systems aren't compatible, but you could use that as a reference as to how his ability scores 'scale' against each other.

^ and here we go , courtesy of archive.org's backup of old GW websites!

If you really do want to convert him, I think the most important things to keep in mind is that Inquisitor is using a greater range in terms of characteristics, and in edge-cases like Space Marines even makes it possible to go past 100 (useful for dealing with hefty penalties).

Where DH's human average seems to be around 20-30, in Inquisitor it'd be more like 40-50. Looking at the stats in Eisenhorn's profile, you can at least see where the people at GW considered his focuses.

Sagacity, Nerve and Leadership aren't characteristics used by DH directly, but you could replace Sagacity with Intelligence and Leadership with Fellowship as they fulfil the same function. Nerve is actually sort of DH's Willpower as well, it's just that Inquisitor was splitting it up between psychic prowess, social interaction and combat discipline. Fortunately, Eisenhorn's Willpower and Nerve are almost the same, and Inquisitor's 90 would probably translate to something like 55 in Dark Heresy.

In terms of Abilities, some of them are exactly the same as in Dark Heresy, whereas others have been present in DH1 but are no longer in DH2, and yet others only have a distant equivalent. Here's a quick suggestion off the top of my head:

Feint = Feint

Force of Will = Jaded

Leader = Into the Jaws of Hell

Enforce Will = Dominate

Mesmerism = Enfeeble

Telepathy = Telepathic Link

Terrify = Terrify

Sanctuary = Telekine Dome*

Vortex of Chaos = Vortex of Doom

*: a better equivalent would have been DH1's Rite of Banishment, but so far I don't think there is anything in DH2 that actually replicates the ability to repel daemonic creatures with a ritually drawn circle.

Inquisitor was more of a skirmish than an investigation game, so Skills were mostly absent. I guess it's fairly obvious which ones Eisenhorn should have, however, at least if you've read his books, but even if not I'd say there is a certain standard just for being an Inquisitor.

There are a couple images in the DH2 rules of Eisenhorn, which is cool to see. Rereading the trilogy really got me in the mood for Dark Heresy!

I always tought of statting him myself, Il could give a try soon.
