The Punisher is OK. FFG promised a bigger Tie Bomber, and it is a bigger Tie Bomber. This was my favourite ship, so I.love the Punisher. The K wing is a good one, but I see a fantasy WW2 attack craft, so I like both...but the Punisher has a place in the front line of the self.
Does anyone actually LIKE the Punisher?
I wasn't sold on the Punisher at first, but I'd grown to like it, and now that I have the model in hand, I absolutely love it. It's like a Tie Bomber turned to 11 and filtered through Gurren Lagann. And with the size of it, it makes the Decimator look smaller in comparison. Intimidating and unusual, I like it.
Gameplay-wise I've not used it enough to comment, though Redline at least makes Cluster Missiles devastating, though dies quickly. Haven't tested out Deathrain yet, or the generics. It may be my favourite-looking Imperial fighter now though, so every Imperial squad I make may well feature one.
Much as it's a fool's errand to start comparing Star Wars to "reality" - just because it can carry a lot of ordnance doesn't mean it's got the avionics to be able to deploy it all simultaneously. Also: assuming that the pilot has a role to play in getting the missiles/torps away (which would be consistent with the films' general tone and milieu) just carrying a lot more different warheads doesn't make him more efficient at getting target locks/firing solutions for lots of weapons at once. The only fact that I dislike is that a single Punisher should have the firepower of four Tie Bombers ...
But in game there is no difference ....
The Punisher should be able to fire at least 2 Torps/Missiles in one round - or even drop 2 Bombs in one round.
So now you have a ship that is literally made out of Launchers and ammo bays - but it can't shoot more stuff off then a Z-95.
Thats the real joke
Also also: I don't want to play a version of the game where ships can fire multiple warheads in a turn and spamming ordnance in the alpha strike is the dominant strategy.
Also also also: A Z-95 can't fire off a missile and drop a bomb/mine in the same turn.
Thanks for the 'fool'
You can do anything thinkable and balance it out points-wise.
And also: Comments like this really turn it down.
And also: I don't care.
I don't think he was calling you a fool!
That sounded impressive until I realized that means you skipped 2 ships. And honestly, two good ships--although I'd forgive you for setting aside the Decimator so as not to participate in the two-ship metagame.
My cunning plan worked. ![]()
But yes, no Decimator (every game I've seen it played in has been boring as sin), no Punisher, no Raider, and no Prototype TIE Advanced for me either - I haven't seen Rebels yet, so have no particular interest in the Ghost or Inquisitor. Probably no Force Awakens stuff immediately either, for similar reasons.
The Gozanti may be a different matter, of course - it carries Return of the Jedi-scheme TIE Fighters, and looks like it will be an amazing addition to epic. May have to pick up two of them!
Looking forward to the Punishing One and Mist Hunter now. Especially the Mist Hunter.
It looks good and plays well.

Excellent Anime and mocumentory uses sir!

*sigh* I really don't WANT the prototype. But it IS a TIE, so my hands are...tie'd...
Maybe if I get someone to repaint it...
I love the Punisher. I was skeptical when i saw the preview, but when I picked up the model i was impressed.
It is a dedicated bomber. Loaded with ordinance to cripple/kill capital ships or bomb ground targets into dust. Personally I think its just the right size to be able to do what it's supposed to do.
Just bought my second one.
I liked flying the K-wing. The Punisher... just tried it against my wife... it ended with the line 'I just think I'm a better pilot than you.' I blame the Punisher. Lots of points on a ship that can't avoid hits. 40 point Redline dead by turn 3.
Or it could be she's just better at the game than me...
quite possibly ![]()
redline's hard to use because he's something completely new to the game. He's real glass cannon (soonts ain't because he isn't high offense and isn't even fragile unless you **** up; whisper ain't because she has 4 modified agility for free), very high powered offense and very brittle for his price.
the trick to using him is blowing something apart before the opponent gets to him. having tons of academies to help block improves both offense (keeps things put) and defense (no offensive actions for enemy)

Thats all I have to say about that.
Edited by CubanboyWhat are you using for your stand? I would love to get a setup like that!
