a New Threat - looking for advice for an imperial

By onetruerebel, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Hello!

Looking to make sure I've got my head on straight for this one because I really need to win it.

I'm playing subversive tactics. Have two xp planning on spending on savage weapons and the one that adds one strain and one damage on an attack.

I'm trying to decide my two open groups.

My strategy is to delay as opposed to wound because I'm finding the wounding bit very challenging. So bleeding and stunning is my planned go to. Here's what I'm thinking

Stormtroopers: three stormtroopers with savage weapons are great. Cheap to replace, if I can keep them alive and kicking that bleed will start to hurt.

Trando hunters: there's only two bjt they synergize with my plan well, adding strain and damage. Not super expensive to replace but only two is a little risky for savage weapons.

Royal guard: the ability to stun and bleed potentially on the same activation is amazing. Not a super high amount of surge potential but if I can keep them beside each other they should last a while.

Elite imperial office: pretty certain I want this guy. Has stun inherently plus has the ability to give another guy an action for more bleed or stun fun is high.

What do you guys think? How are my choices? Any advice I'd appreciate!

If your goal is to slow them down, then it's all about conditions. I always choose to stun over anything else, because removing their activations keeps my guys alive longer which allows them to do more damage.

If you can stun and run away that's even better. Stun-then-hit-and-run attacks works great with Royal Guards, especially when you consider they have reach.

A New Threat is heavily favored for imperials, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Imperial guards are good (as always) due to their speed plus reach but they are pretty costly for a 3 threat mission. Stormtroopers are decent, they really punish if ignored. The elite officer is good for missions when you also get a big elite, but you don't really need him here. I don't love trandoshans here, the map is too big for them.

Wounding is very easy. Start with the weakest character first, or most dangerous power (Jyn, Mak, etc). Put a few units near that character.

Wait until after that character activates (so they can't heal), then activate those units and unload all those activations at once.

You don't have to deploy all your threat every round. If they're moving toward a future spawn point, save it up. You're the Imperial, you're allowed to read ahead in the Campaign Guide.

I've not had much success wounding them to date. I should've done it in Mak's mission, but for a rules mistake I wouldve.

Thanks everyone for the advice!

The reason I wanted to go elite officer is because only he and the royal guard have stun

We started our third campaing today and played this today. Even with all the information they gathered from playing this before (both of them having played Imperials once, it was my turn), the rebels were totally annihilated for the third time. They split, as we thought this would be necessary as time is of the essence, but still nothing to do.... no idea how they can win this honeslty, unless the god of dices is 100% with them
