ISD Preview is up!!!

By Silver Crane, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm a predominantly Rebel player, but ****... That looks awesome!

I'm actually not sure how scary the Devastator title will be. Discarding a defense token is pretty big for a single extra die. It seems like a closing gambit to try to kill either an objective ship or MC80. If you pump all 4 into a single shot you are much more vulnerable to getting focused down.

Wow, this is a **** fine expansion !

Brutal firepower. I'm loving the flavour of Ruthless Strategist too :D

Although I don't really understand the combo between Avenger, Overload Pulse and Screed... At least not on a single ship. Any ship foolish enough to get into two arcs of a Star Destroyer is probably going to die anyways. Maybe it's a defense against large ships ?

It means that Devastator is meant more as a tank. You throw it up forward to attract enemy firepower, discard all of your tokens after attacks, then unload punishing volleys. At speed with 2 banks on the first turn, your front arc is going to interdict a very nasty zone of the board !

It doesn't give you extra dice when you discard them, it gives you extra dice as long as you have discarded them. Every bow attack for the whole game. So more along what Moffzen said.

Indeed, now couple that with Advanced Projectors on an ISD2 and the Devastator will tank like a madman, while still getting extra blue dice.

Funnily enough, in the fluff, it's an Imperial I-class. I'm wondering where they were going for with it. Throw it forward YOLOing your way with the defense tokens, then unleash punishing volleys with the blue and black dice. God, now wiht Darth Vader we're talking..

Jubilation!

Now to read...

I went back and re-read the card. You are correct, and that makes the title much scarier.

I'd still be concerned that I would lose the points trade even if I vaped 1 or 2 rebs in a couple rounds of shooting, especially against the Zombie Shrimp lists that I'm sure are coming. Mostly because of the activation/dice advantage the rebels will probably have and the cheaper cost of the ships you'll be blasting into dust. However, you might allow some Gladiators to close unhindered, or allow a 2nd ISD to mop up survivors.

Edit: Then again, Gunnery Team would help with a swarming list, and that front arc is so big you'll definitely catch a couple more Rebs in your net...

Or have Activation Advantage yourself with an ISD at the head of a RaiderHorde...

The moment I laid eyes on her... I had goosebumps... In a good way of course

It's a sounds idea, but I would mix it between the Raider and the Gladiator, just for good measure :P
