Imperial Star Destroyer Preview

By Toqtamish, in Star Wars: Armada

I would expect that to be the case.

Well, there are technically 3 full weeks between this week and Sullust, and 4 Wednesdays. Which is the number of expansions yet to be covered :D

EDIT : But I want the MC80 next. Small ships are good and nice an fun, but Large ships are the meat of this expansion ! I mean I'd love to hear about the MC30c for sure... but that ISD preview got everyone in the Paris gaming group hyped as kids and all they want is the MC80 to get even more hyped ! Then Rogues & Villians, then the smaller ships.

Because one thing gets people hyped : ICONIC :P I want Han Solo in my effing fleet :P

I was surprised by the ISD being the first preview, after the massing at sullust announcement I thought they would leave it till last to let the hype build and build and build....

So if I had to guess, I'd say the MC80 will preview next to counter balance the imperial hype. But like I said, was wrong last time.

It made sense to me.

The ISD is going to be the iconic piece of Armada like the X-Wing is for X-Wing.

I could live with Rogue and Villains. But the MC30 won't definitely satisfy the Rebel players if it's released next. (Hint, Hint ffgjosh)

It's not a bad ship per say (so far it looks really promising indeed). But I think it will be more worth it as the closing argument for the Rebel hype. "You liked the MC80 ? Good, but wait there's more !"

I may switch sides to Imperial at this rate.....

Vader seems very powerful, to the extent that I actually thought they meant "discard" a defense token, not spend.

Why do the Imperials get all the rerolls and dice modifications? First Screed, then Vader, not to mention swarm, Warlord

I get your balance question.

And yet, the Imperials are the established military power. Their stuff should be powerful. Seductively powerful. So much so that most players will "choose" to play Empire, without ever realizing they have begun there inevitable descent into the domination of the Sith ;-)

I'm going to predict that we will get the previews in the order the original announcement had them. So, the 2 rebel ships next, then the Scum squadrons, then the Raider last.

I thin Avenger is going to be a widely used title. . . Captain Needa might find himself on VSD's, the Impstar 1 is going to be amazing with Expanded Hanger Bay and Boosted Coms.

Ohhh the Tractor Beams allow for some great defensive play. Gladiator charging in? Nope, now it's slower. VSD or Raider too close for comfort, nope now they are slower. . . I like it.

Well unless they have a token.

...a token they had planned for something else.

Now they need to have a token to counter the tractor, a token they cannot use for something else...

Maybe an upgrade that is "evasive maneuvers" that nullifies the tractor beam (or a chance roll). Easier than a new token.
