Imperial Star Destroyer Preview

Many in my area dont either but it is all about efficiency.

Ah.. thats it then... we play for fun. We even use the OB from old Star Wars RPG books made by West End Games.

You can be fun and efficient :D

I find it more fun when I lost by a landslide when my build was weak ad my plean poorly executed compared to a savvy enemy Admiral. Or when we end up at 5-5 or 6-4 in terms of margin of victory after a hard fought battle.

EDIT :

Looking at Ruthless Strategists a tad more, there's some awesome combos to be made :D

ISD I with Point Defense Reroute and Ruthless Strategists, Mauler and 3 TIEs. Pin them down with your fighters proceed to PDR them the next turn, then Ruthless Strategist. You can inflict up to 3 damage + 1 for Mithel (including 2 auto damage they can't mitigate), and because you have multiple squadrons engaged (because you'll want Swarms) you can cycle which one takes the damage. And your anti-fighter barrage has 75% chance of inflicting one damage on the Black Dice and 62.5% on the blue dice after the reroll. Many dead squadrons in one swift stroke.

I'm picturing driving and ISD forward, grabbing someone with tractor beam, then punching them the mouth with a Gladiator. Glorious!

That is the thing though, you now have a choice for that token, and having multiple choices is generally a good thing.

Option 1: Keep the nav token, reduce speed by 1. Then on next activation, use token and exhaust Wulff, go back up 1 speed, still have token.

Option 2: Spend nav token, exhaust Wulff to keep token. then you can either use the nav token to proc engine techs (if taken) or not. That extra speed 1 maneuver may not be needed, you may be fine with just a normal maneuver, or demolisher may be activating last for the turn.

Why I feel like no one want to play the rebels no more........

The game went from uneaven to unfair......but what the hell bring it on....

Hope we soon see some jedi commanders that may balance all those great Imperial leaders.

Trust me, the Rebels will get their due.

I feel the cost of this monster should be at least 150 not 120.

Nah. I think it will be fine.

Choices are definitely a good thing. This is why it's better to have the option to force the enemy into making such decisions - without the tractor beams, the only choice the enemy would have would be to not lose a token, not lose any speed, and leave Wulff untapped.

Keep in mind that what you're describing basically boils down to "What happens if tractor beams run into an insurance policy?" In this case you yourself have several options, including the above "Force your opponent into making decisions." or "Target a different ship without said insurance policy." :)

Well, I'm going to get myself two of these bad boys. Other than the first version feeling rather mediocre compared to the second version, this ship set is just wow. Need multiples of those non-unique cards. Tractor beams alone are insane!

Yep, there go my paychecks... Good thing my girlfriend at least undersands my addiction, even if this isn't her cup of tea.

Pretty sure all the Jedi commanders are dead as of the Galactic Civil War.

You get paid $70 a month? That's the cost of two Star Destroyers.

Why should she have say in how you spend your paycheck? I don't understand how making a once-off purchase of ships constitutes an 'addiction.'

Now if you were buying a new ISD everytime one got wrecked on the table, yes... but buying two copies of a new wave? No.

With this bad boy , you need only one. Its like the death star. One shot one kill.

And with the speed of that thing , there is nowhere to hide.

Its time to bring out the bomber squadrons. I think squadrons will be very popular now. No rebel capital ship want to go near this monster.

It will take more than 6 rounds to bring it down, leaving the strategy to hit and run on smaller vessels and squadrons and win on points.

I see Neb Bs being a lot less popular when ISDs come into play. It's Speed 3 and such defense that makes the difference.

Playing Neb Bs with a monster like that will really mean being smart about them.

I get the feeling there is going to be a lot of Imperial on Imperial violence.......the Admiral Zarins and Harkovs will be eliminated by Lord Vader!

Ferus Olin survived Order 66 and formed an underground resistance and eventually met up with Obi-Wan Kenobi, he also helped track down other Jedi and had a base on the "Jedi asteroid" until it was destoryed 18 BBY some Jedi / Force Sensitive occupents:

- Garen Muln (Jedi Master)

- Ferus Olin

- Fy-Tor-Ana (Jedi Master)

- Ry-Gaul (Jedi Master & Senior Generalin the Grand Army of the Republic)

These were people who were trying to start a rebellion before the outbreak of the Galatic Civil War, thought there are at least 50+ survivors of Order 66. So, while it might not be cannon, there COULD be a Jedi survior who serves as an office on one of the ships, or even a commander. As long as there was some old Cannon to back it up, I'd have no issue with it, or even if they explained it in a convincing way.

I win with rebels. It can be done. 2nd place at Nationals was rebels.

I know it can be done , but it will be more challenging. I like to play both and buy heavily into both factions so me and my son may play almost any list. But now I feel my son will favor only the empire, but still there are some rebel ships coming up :-)

There may be some suprises yet from the rebel ships. With the right tactics and list you may bring the empire down. And poor Darth Vader have to explain himself before the emperor.
