What would you drop from this 102 point list?

I think obvious choice is the glitterstim or Agro, but could downgrade the cannons?

I would drop tlt to blaster. Despite the extra dice with tlt you still only max 2 damage.

I too would drop TLT for Blaster. R4 lets you modify those 4 dice, just don't get yourself blocked!

+1 to the above, drop the TLT for a Blaster.

I really like your list. Like others have said, switching Kavil's turret to the Blaster seems like the best option. Maybe this instead though:

Talonbane (Glitterstim)

Kavil (TLT, R4 Agromech)

Cartel Spacer (Heavy Scyk, Flechette Cannon)

Cartel Spacer (Heavy Scyk, Ion Cannon)

So, less damage but some control that could help maximize Talonbane's ability (range 1 attacks especially).

I am a fan of my 2 Scyk manglers. But let's say I do drop them what would you replace them with? You have 38 points. Maybe 3 Z's?

Yes, so you get the Target Lock before rolling the dice actually and can spend it to reroll.

And yes, R4 does work with BT.

If you have three Kihasdjkghljkgh's I would try a couple of those mooks instead of Scyk's for sheer efficiency but I also love the look of the Scyk and wish it had better costing. And yes, R4 works with blaster turret.

That's exactly what I'd do, if you drop the Scyks (and I think it would be good to at least consider it). Three Headhunters have half again the durability and about the same total offensive output.

R4 does work with the Blaster Turret. You spend a focus to fire, pick up a TL right away, and can spent your TL to modify the attack. It's a good combo on Kavil, but it does make him very vulnerable to stress and blocking.

Are they genuinely better in every situation? Cancelling range 3 bonus + extra evade + the crits + arc dodging capacity?

I don't know I just have done a lot with them in the games I've played. (plus I have 2 and only 1 khirarhjahr)

Dropping scyks or TLT makes it a different list entirely. I would drop glit.

As someone that's run a pair of Scyks in a list, I'm honestly pretty cool with them being there. A pair of cheap cannons is nice for the long range support, and those crits should be nice against the current "low agility" meta that seems to be forming.

With that said, TLT is pretty "meh" on Kavil. So much more upside with a Blaster Turret for him. He becomes Outrider-esque then, and he can be downright nasty. If Soontir and other low HP, high agility arc-dodgers are a thing you regularly deal with, then the TLT isn't a terrible idea. If they're not, then Kavil dealing two damage a turn isn't going to amount to much. Maybe use the extra points to give TC an EPT.

Honestly, I'd trade the Mangler Cannons for Ion Cannons.

Ion SCYKs do a job that no-one else in the game can, and you more than make up the difference of price when you can mass fire on a paralyzed ship.

Kavil only rolls 3 dice with an Autoblaster Turret against an out of arc target unless you've got something like Opportunist adding in a die somewhere.

Kavil with Autoblaster Turret is really just free points for your opponent unless you give him an Unhinged Astromech and Engine Upgrade. Even then he's only really much good against high agility, low health ships. If you've got some B-Wings or a Decimator to shoot at he kind of sucks.

Yeah i've selected the wrong turret there, so you wont have 2 points spare but will be bang on 100.

Another option would just to replace Kavil with either Drea, Hired Gun or Syndicate Thug, freeing up 2, 4, or 6 points. I would go with Hired Gun or Thug since the Scum uniques don't have great synergies with TLTs.

That would give you the 2pts and then 2 or 4 pts for an ept on Cobra and/or a stealth device on one of the sycks.

I think if you put Blaster T on Kavil you can afford to put a less damaging cannon on one of your Sycks.

I've used it too, and it's fun if you don't ever lose that focus per turn, but that's not easy to ensure if your opponent is canny.

I think I'd drop a scyk for engine and predator on kavil and go for unhinged. Then you can put upgrades on the k and bump the scyk to better ps or a better gun

You'd have two points to spare.

Instead of the "stress to TL" mech on Kavil, I'd use the 1 point agromech. All your 3 maneuvers are green and the ywing has full range of green. Then put PTL on him for you SPT, voila. You have your focus to use the blaster, a TL to boost your attack roll, and all for 100pts. Your welcome :P
