With the Kwing's very limited maneuver dial, is an EU a requirement for it, essentially making it 4 points greater than it seems?
EU required for Kwing?
It has SLAM already, so why bother with EU?
I would agree. Having access to the SLAM action makes kind of boost irrelevant.
when you SLAM, you can't perform an action. On an attack-oriented K, like Miranda or anything with a turret, boosting makes their horrid dial considerably better, while allowing them to also attack. I will probably never run Miranda without the engine upgrade, as the only game thus far I've used her, I ended up using it nearly every third turn. SLAM is good, but boost is better
If you run Advanced Slam, you can at least regain the action at the end of the boost. I will admit, not being able to attack is the downfall of Slam. Certainly better for bombers than for turret builds.
I tend to agree don't waist points and slots for something you already have better
Why not take Advanced SLAM instead? And it is 2 Points less...

The K-Wing's dial isn't horrid. Go look at the Lambda and HWK's dial and be thankful for what you've got. There's no red on that dial, it's got better greens than a Y-Wing, and it's got all the moves at 2. If you're toting a turret that dial is going to have you covered.
I would agree it is a bomber first with advanced slam still get the action to drop some bombs .
After playing Miranda I realized Slam feels like a trap on her. Miranda should be attacking and regenerating shields every round (or taking kill shots). Fast or big ships can still keep you in range and fire at you without fear of return fire.
I ran her with Conner and EM, so I will be dropping them for EU, and maybe take Seismic or Ion mine.
I like the K-wing ps2 as bomber and Miranda as a hunter (9) hull shield with built in regeneration and extra shots as needed great ship for the points
no, and not because you have SLAM
EU lets you post-move and shoot making it easy to abuse with turrets, which SLAM does not.
the problem is, the effectiveness of EU on turrets is something we've learned from the idiocy of fat han or cheri, both of who fly ships with pretty exquisite dials and fat asses that are extra affected by the boost movement
the K-wing has neither an exquisite dial nor a fat ass (dat wingspan, though impressive, is irrelevant) so the impact of boost is minor at best
the 4 points you sink into it represent a far greater % cost increase for a far lesser return than your typical PWT. It is therefore wildly inefficient.
after running TLT + c3po miranda with nothing else, it is my honest opinion that EU is completely unnecessary. Plan ahead, use SLAM to get yourself into position before the shots start flying, SLAM away if desperate or to set up for a better position in the following turns.
I'd far sooner invest in bombs than EU
Edited by ficklegreendiceEU is alright on TLT Miranda. I wouldn't put it on any others. Slam can move you faster in emergencies, but sometimes a simple boost will get you out and it still allows you to shoot.
If you're looking at EU, maybe Leebo on a budget? Then you could take Adv SLAM as well. A move, SLAM, and boost can move you far enough that the ion move isn't too detrimental
