My first list using K-Wing

Hello all, much like my earlier Tie Punisher posting, I am now also attempting to make a list for the first time featuring the new Rebel hotness, the K-Wing!

The first list that comes to mind is something like this:

Miranda Doni — K-Wing 29 Extra Munitions 2 Conner Net 4 Proximity Mines 3 Advanced SLAM 2 Ship Total: 40

Jake Farrell — A-Wing 24 Veteran Instincts 1 Chardaan Refit -2 Outmaneuver 3 Autothrusters 2 A-Wing Test Pilot 0 Ship Total: 28

Tycho Celchu — A-Wing 26 Push the Limit 3 Chardaan Refit -2 Daredevil 3 Autothrusters 2 A-Wing Test Pilot 0 Ship Total: 32

The idea is simple: fill the board with nasty Connor Nets and Proximity Mine templates and take advantage with a pair of super maneuverable and zippy A-Wing aces. Too bad to play it I'll need a second Connor Net token lol

What do you think? Pretty good as is or am I way off base here?

I am surprised that Doni doesn't have

  • R2Dcrew
  • Gunner
  • Twin-Laser Turret

The former allows for shield regeneration, giving you free dice to throw at your opponents

The latter two give you more than one attack in a round, giving you free shield regeneration

Moreover, with the Mines and Net, a high pilot skill is actually working against you!


That being said, still looks like a fun list.

What about downgrading miranda to a Warden squadron pilot and add c3p0? my only concern there is that you get 3 points for initiative, dunno if that leads to a bad use of the points.

My little bit of tinkering shows that you either need to kit the Kwing out as a bomber, or as a turret ship. Having TLT and Gunner or Recon Spec is best for a turret build and a high pilot skill. For a bomber, I would suggest a low PS, bombardier, extra munitions and the advanced slam.

I'm tempted to fly one of each with a Y-wing.

Thanks for the thoughts on how to kit out a K-Wing depending on the PS. Based on your input, I've come up with a couple of lists, one where the K-wing is a bomber, another as a turret platform. Both lists were made while on break during class, so please let me know if I omitted anything important that I may have missed!

List 1 (Turret K-Wing):

Miranda Doni — K-Wing 29 Twin Laser Turret 6 Gunner 5 Advanced SLAM 2 Ship Total: 42

Gold Squadron Pilot — Y-Wing 18 Ion Cannon Turret 5 R2 Astromech 1 BTL-A4 Y-Wing 0 Ship Total: 24

Wedge Antilles — X-Wing 29 Outmaneuver 3 Ship Total: 32

List 2 (Bomber K-wing):

Warden Squadron Pilot — K-Wing 23 Flechette Torpedoes 2 Extra Munitions 2 Bombardier 1 Proximity Mines 3 Conner Net 4 Advanced SLAM 2 Ship Total: 37

Tycho Celchu — A-Wing 26 Daredevil 3 Chardaan Refit -2 Push the Limit 3 Autothrusters 2 A-Wing Test Pilot 0 Ship Total: 32

Jake Farrell — A-Wing 24 Outmaneuver 3 Chardaan Refit -2 Predator 3 Autothrusters 2 A-Wing Test Pilot 0 Ship Total: 30

After making the bombing list, there were 3 points left over and the only slots that were open were the K's extra Torpedo or Missile slot, so I decided on a Flechette Torpedo as stressing the enemy will help the A's get into the perfect firing position.
