Hello all, so just wanted a quick clarification on the rules, if I have a 99 point list and my opponent has 100, can I choose to give my opponent initiative or do I have to take initiative?

Yes, you can choose to give your opponent initiative.

From the Tournament Rules:

The player with the lowest squad point total decides which player has initiative. If both players are tied with the same squad point total, toss a coin. The winner of the coin toss decides who has initiative.

The real trick is knowing when to take the initiative, and when to let your opponent have it. There are times when I know I've gotten mixed up and ceded it when I shouldn't have, and vice versa.

Of course you may have matches where the only thing initiative does is determine who sets the first obstacle on the board. If there are PS ties initiative shouldn't be needed there and unless it is a actual elimination round the "initiative wins the draw" doesn't factor in either.
