Highlights

What a week! Both World Champions went down, with BlairBunke’s Rebel Swarm triumphing over Paul’s scary Redline list, and Hothie’s Scum HAYY (Hawk, Agressor, Y, Y) list getting pummeled by StarSlinger’s National List Jax Swarm. Kinetic’s Corran proved just too hard to kill in his match-up versus Kelvan’s BBBAA swarm, despite excellent corrall (corranall?) by Ricky. In the other Corran game, #1 X-Wing ELO rated Matt-Shadowlord’s Corran-Dash list lost a squeaker of a match to WC Elect and Season 1 champion Morgan’s Aggressor + Double Y List, featuring an extended dogfighting endgame between Dash and IG88-B that came down to the very wire. Finally, serrate’s “Lawnmower” (Rebel Operative + TLT + Recon Spec x 3, Roark + Crewbacca + ABT) list, flown by sozin, mowed down SideSlip’s Slaver + Kixhraxz Maurader x3 list, demonstrating the incredible zapping power off the TLTs+Recon Specalists.

Commentary: The Ye Olde Meta meets the new. If Deathrain can get a good ion on the good Rear Admiral Chirp those ties can do a great job focus firing down a large ship. However Soontir is scissor that cuts Hothie’s paper. This means Hothie will have to look for an opportunity to stick a Conner net in front of Soontir as well. Morgan will look for this. Traditionally Morgan’s list does well to above average against a list like this. I’ll take it until I am convinced otherwise.

Commentary: Yeesh. TLT may beat that Leebo but those Z’s love seeing so many easy to kill and unmaneuverable ships. Palob just gets destroyed by HLC but is effectively harmless against Leebo. It’ll be interesting to see Matt’s target priority. Kelvan obviously wants Leebo dead but Palob can do work vs the Z’s.

Moralo Eval + Heavy Laser Cannon + K4 Security Droid + Bossk + Gunner

(100)

Commentary: Starslinger more or less says,”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” and goes with the swarm again. It’s an interesting pick considering he’ll see just two ships. Bossk for the most part will be easy to track down although Vader may need his Ion missile for the Aggressor. Sozin can put a hurting on any ship in his sights so as long as he can avoid enough fire he can kill at least a ship a turn.

Scum and Villainy Prediction

Ricky: StarSlinger72 (not confident)

Lyle: When I bet against myself, I win , soooooo …. StarSlinger72!

Cutlass Squadron Pilot + Fire-Control System + Extra Munitions + Cluster Missiles + Twin Ion Engine Mk. II

Commentary: Two ship (sorta, HOUNDS TOOTH!) build again from KO although this version has a very fragile ship in Talonbane. Most people suggest building him with no or low cost upgrades. KO brought him with 12 points of upgrades. Screw conventional wisdom! This game will be fast I suspect with all the Ordnance. If theorist can get his Clusters on TalonBane I suspect he can whittle down Bossk. Bossk btw is looking cruel. Mangler cannon is awesome on him. I don’t love Hounds Tooth but I’d like to be wrong.

Miranda Doni + Twin Laser Turret

Gold Squadron Pilot + Twin Laser Turret

(100)

Commentary: I love seeing Palpatine. LOVE IT! Such a cool card. This list looks fun to play as well, Pheaver is going to have a tough time with Target priority. Easy to kill but high hp Palpatine, dogfighter and ordnance carrier Juno, or crit machine Marek Steele. (Marek Steele is being run… this is the best day of his life.) Paul has a solid and steady damage core of Miranda and a Gold generating constant damage. The blue can focus down a target and prototype A’s are the best blockers in the game. He’ll focus a target down and maybe prevent some actions. The question is will he choose the right target?

Commentary: Swarms are strong. We already knew this. I love that Dom just goes back to old trusty on this. It’ll be especially effective against Bossk. However IG-88 is very good against attack 2 guns and will put out a lot of crits. I love swarms, its my favorite kind of list. Dom, known perhaps more for stranger lists, is actually probably the best swarm player I’ve ever seen. That being said unless IG-88 rolls very poorly I can’t see the victory. Once again I’d like to point out that the Hounds Tooth points could perhaps be better spent on a Mangler cannon.

I love these threads and the league. Can I ask you to not post the log and the score next to it. You could post it at the end, but I really would rather watch the log without knowing who won the game before hand. If I know who won it really isn't that interesting to me. I don't mind if you post it further down, but the suspense is lost immediately at the top of thread. I find I don't even read your comments most times.
I suggest you post the logs at the top and the results at the bottom, it would be a great way to keep other interested .
Thanks,

KO to win. Blair to get TIEd up.
