Oldest ship in X-wing?

By HyddHwk, in X-Wing

How far back do the ships go in terms of star wars history? I was recently watching clone wars and fell in love with the "Twilight" (G9 Rigger-class light freighter). I could see this ship in scum, but I think it may be too old in comparison to the current ships used in X-Wing. Would older ships like this be a possibility in X-Wing?

The Z-95 is older than the Clone Wars. The time between the Z-95 and the T-70 is something like 60-70 years; so, sure. Entirely a possibility from that perspective.

Falcon's supposed to be a century old, Z-95s and Firesprays both predate the Empire as well. Not sure about HWK-290s or YV-666. The TIEs and alphabet soup are all Civil War-era onwards (with the sole exception of the Y-Wing).

A YV-666 is (briefly) shown in an episode of The Clone Wars, so it's at least that old. The Gozanti Cruiser shows up in several episodes, as well as in TPM.

Y-Wings also feature as a bomber craft in many Clone Wars episodes.

The oldest ship in X-wing is the CR90 Frigate, the Tantive IV. It was the first ship that rolled onto the screen back in 1977. 'Nuff said! ;)

However, the version we have in the game is from this time period.

The Scyk Interceptor's pretty old as well.

how old is the Falcon??

how old is the Falcon??

Not as old as the Tantive IV. We didn't see that ship until about half way through Episode IV. ;)

it's either the YT-1300 or the Firespray-31.

There's a HWK-290 in Phantom Menace. That's probably the oldest X-Wing ship seen in the official canon.

No there isn't.

Trust me.

The Falcon is the oldest by far- and that doesn't even make it the oldest YT-1300.

Isn't the MF in the background in a shot in that movie? Or is it one of the other prequels?

You can see the engine formation of a HWK entering a planet's atmosphere (I forget which one) in episode I. I think there's also a Gozanti taking off in the background while Qui Gon, Padme and JarJar enter Mos Espa.

Shows up briefly in Revenge.

A lot of the rebel and scum ships are clone wars era or older. The Imperial stuff is newer, but not necessarily more advanced or better. Th Z-95s in x-wing are the AF-4 models, the last ones produced before Incom and Subpro split partnerships, sometime after the clone wars. The Mark 1 Z-95 was first produced long before the clone wars. Y-wings have a similar history but are newer, with the BTL-B introduced in the CW and the S3 and A4 models coming later. The YT-1300 is a very old design, but then so is the CR-90, probably dating back decades before CW. The same probably holds true for Firssprays and YV-666. Who knows how old HWKs are. The scum fighters may be pretty old, but I don't really care about any of the SWG ships.

The K-wing may be the newest ship, coming about a decade or so after ROTJ.

how old is the Falcon??

It's in Episode 3, under different colors and name, so it's at least 20 years old by the OT, and at least 50 years old by the time TFA.

There was a really good book (that's now legends  ) explaining the history of the Falcon. It was about 100-150 years old by the time of episode 4.

Birthdays happen even if you are not seen. And creatures still age if you keep your self locked away and your own eyes closed,

You can't. I've analyzed that scene again and again. D:

Besides, it would have been noted by the film team that it was there. They are usually pretty good about listing those indulgences (I mean, they mention the literal kitchen sink they bothered to render into the Episode III opening scene).

If we are sticking to canon, the candidates for oldest thing in the game are:

- Senator's Shuttle (from the X-Wing core set, appears in Episode I shuttling ol' Palps around)

- The Gozanti cruiser (literally the Gozanti-type, NOT the later 'Imperial' version of it) appears during Episode I (and many times during the 'Clone Wars' series)

- Slave-1 appears during Episode II, piloted by Jango Fett (and a very young Boba as crew)

- Z-95 appears during the 'Clone Wars' CGI series (which is canon), although it is definitely an earlier model than we have (only 2 engines)

- Y-Wings regularly appear during the 'Clone Wars' CGI series, but as with the Z-95, it's a very different version than we have

- The Hound's Tooth (YV-666) appears during the 'Clone Wars' CGI series (as noted, canon - and it's actually Bossk's ship, so this is legit)

- Millennium Falcon (appears in Episode III as a cameo)

- Note that the Tantive IV does not appear in Episode III. Word is that it was SUPPOSED to be - but somebody goofed the CGI model pretty badly, and it's got some obvious problems that won't reconcile, so it was retconned into a different ship. But I suppose the Organa family just remained fans of the design...

- By the time we are getting close to the 'Rebellion' era, lots of things start showing up in the 'Rebels' TV series (5 years before Yavin)...pretty much all the non-EU stuff in wave 8, actually.

AFAIK, that's the full "canon" list
