Target carries X-wing?

By Droidlover, in X-Wing

So with Target having a Star Wars event Thursday at midnight, what guarantee is there that they will have x-wing minis? The Target in my area doesn't normally carry it.

edit- forget this post. found the other with similiar subject.

It carried the core set for a time but it didn't sell well. They clearanced it out. Was actually awesome, i got a core set there for$16.

As far as Force Friday, it's looking like Target and Toys R Us are your best bets, but if you're going to a midnight event, make sure your store is participating. Many are not.

I bought 4 core sets with a gift card and traded one for an expansion pack. Instant tie swarm.

Neither of the targets in my area carry x wing stuff. They do however carry halo 5 figures and star wars rebels kiddie junk. Neither have any space cleared for the new star wars stuff as well. Oddly enough, the only place in my area who carries it is barnes n nobles. Not even the FLGS has x wing, they do carry 40k however..which is weird. If I could find the current core set for cheap i'd leap with joy, but no where seems to carry it for less than 30 bucks.

Saw 'em for as low as $11 around here. By that time I already had three (having gotten the third when they hit $19.99 at Target) and could in no way justify a fourth, even at that price.

ETA: It should be noted that even when Target carried the core sets, they did not carry the expansion packs. So I wouldn't expect them to do so this time around either.

When wizards of the coast was doing Star Wars Miniatures target carried those, I'm hoping we may see some expansions this time around. I do all of my purchases through the local LGS but it would be nice to have another source for impulse buys.

Check Target on Friday. That's all we can tell you. It's not safe here.

...wait...your LGS doesn't carry X-wing?

guess they don't want make a profit or something.

It is the most successful miniatures game around right now...nothing except heroclix comes close.

Not tried Target site yet but this is Walmart. I came across this the other day looking for one of the Robotech movies I couldn't remember the name of and it pulled up the new minis game for it called Robotech Tactics. That got me wondering about Imperial Assault and X-wing and presto. May not carry it in store but free in-store pick-up or $35 and it's free delivery.

and yet if X-Wing were put head to head for shelf space vs Magic the Gathering it would lose badly.

I stand firmly in the X-Wing camp but just being honest here.

wait, why would the first core set be $50 at wal-mart?

Well when you look at the way department stores market such merchandise to include table top games they tend to present them the same way as children toys. Magic the Gathering and pokemon can be found near the board game section which is found in the children section. Only recently (as of post 2000 so I guess not that recent) have department stores been moving video games out of the toy section and placing them with the dvd/movie electronic section. Face it this niche hobby is still looked at by the mainstream consumer society as a child's plaything. <_<

FLGS around me are practically Heroclix & MTG Clubs. It's pretty annoying. No one really plays the games I like. We have managed to squeeze out a regular crowd of 6-8 for our weekly X-Wing night, though.

My FLGS didn't even know there was a new edition coming. They said neither of their distributors had solicited for it. I'm going to Target.

That's not the FLGS's fault, I assure you.

This seems to be a common occurrence. My FLGS knew it was coming but told me that it was a Target exclusive per his distributor. I mentioned this on Reddit and folks came out of the wood work saying it wasn't true and that LGS would get em but no one knows when. Theres so much misinformation going around that I'm not sure who is getting em other than Target right now. Could be days before LGS get em. Could be months. All I know is I'm going to Target Thursday night to buy mine since my LGS wont have em and has no idea if/when he will be able to get em.

I don't play at or shop at a LGS. Amazon for me.

It looks like Walmart is simply offering items via other online hobby retailers, thus the weird prices. They have two different listings for the Aggressor at two different prices sold by two different vendors.

Probably terms the big stores made in order to sell the product. Just one more tactic to help beat out the little guy. I'll wait 6 extra months if I have to. Wal-Mart, or Target, won't see a dollar from my pocket.

The only reason I intend to purchase a new core set from Target (assuming they indeed will have them - haven't been able to confirm though I do expect it) is because to the best of my knowledge FLGS's have not even had the opportunity to order product for this release yet (unless something has changed in the past few days though I doubt it).

Given FFG's track record of having some extremely long restock times I don't want to get stuck for a couple months without a copy of the new greatness.

My FLGS gets plenty of my business and I will purchase my Force Awakens expansions from them when available. The only time I don't but from my FLGS is when they can't get something in and I NEEDS IT NOW!

I'm hoping that game shops will be able to order starting this Thursday or Friday. I'm really hoping that FFG has all of the expansions and more core sets in warehouses ready to ship once the trade embargo lifts. It is possible that the initial production run was for cores and cores only for major retailers.

Hope you won't need to wait that long. Rumor going around is that the new damage deck will be required for tournaments going forward. I hope it's not true but you never know.

Online shopping sites, along with places like Target and Wal-Mart, are why 26% of the American workforce make less than $10.55 an hour. More people could afford to get into games like X-Wing if everyone supported the little guy.
