It's been a week, what's our analysis of wave seven now?

By nikk whyte, in X-Wing

Imperials, not much from Wave 7, most of their boost is from the TIE advanced upgrade in the Imperial Raider. As for the bombs and missiles and torpedo upgrades still not much word on that despite the extra munitions fix. Some people are trying out the upgrades with extra munitions but for the most part many EM tokens get removed from the table instead of spent. Strangely Major Rhymer has been MIA so I haven't hard much about the Rhymer AHM build yet. Probably too heavy on squadron points to fit it anywhere.

Scum and Villainy, probably the biggest impact as they had the most ships and upgrades with this wave which brings them 1 ship short of the different types of ships the two original factions have. The Kihraxz fighter doesn't make much of a filler ship as 20 points tend to be a heavy price for a filler ship still it does come in at the same point cost as a mangler scyk yet while the Kihraxz has the advantage in durability with 1 more hull and 1 more shields the mangler scyk has more firepower and damage mitigation. With both Kihraxz and Scyk dials you don't want to run in your opponent at range 1. The Hounds Tooth although impressive in its size and as a cannon platform it is no decimator. It can still get focused down faster than a VT-49 and ships that get behind the auxiliary firing arcs are in a safe spot. The point cost is also considerable so bringing it will likely leave you with a 2 ship build or a Z-95 Escort.

Rebels, probably the faction to benefit the most from wave 7 with the addition of TLT. Now S&V also has access to that upgrade with their Scum-wings and Scumhawks but considering it comes in a Rebel expansion pack and the Rebels get another ship that can carry turret secondary weapons I would declare the Rebels the overall winners with use of the TLT. The TLT is no doubt a game changer with the ability to get past the 2 damage hard mitigation you see on most fat turret ships such as Fat Han and Dodgemator with Palpatine. If they use upgrades such as R2-D2 <Crew> once you get that first damage card and it will be easy to get past C-3PO+evade or Kenkirk/Palpatine+Issard. The thing TLT will have some but not as big of an impact is against high agility with multi token or per-attack defensive abilities. As for the K-wing, it can make the most use of mines with the Advanced Slam but at 23 points for a 2 firepower turret it is a tough sell now that auto-thrusters is out.

Underestimating Illicit a bit, but yeah this is about right.

;)

I like wave 7 and what it brought to the table so to speak.

I ran the following list at a 26 player Store Wars tournaments on Saturday and went 5-0 to win the tournament.

=================
Drea Kavil Slaver
=================
100 points Pilots
------
Kavil (33) Y-Wing (24), Twin Laser Turret (6), Predator (3)
Drea Renthal (29) Y-Wing (22), Twin Laser Turret (6), Unhinged Astromech (1)
Trandoshan Slaver (38) YV-666 (29), Bossk (2), Gunner (5), Tactician (2)
3 of the 5 opponents I faced are in the top 10 of the tournament which is comprised of these store tournaments. This was the 5th one I think and the 1st one I was able to attend due to moving this summer.
We haven't had them for a week though. They were just released in Canada on Friday.

Like every ship in the game (except our base X-Wings) if you play them right and smart all of Wave 7 is a win.

The generic K-Wing and Kihraxz are the best and most forgiving ships this time I think. YV-666 fits right in too, if you are a GOOD Player; all of the Bounty Hunters are just about awesomeness. Boba is SCUM by the way.

;)

Regarding scum Boba, it isn't said often enough how amazing he is. There a few things as cool in this game as having an action less Fett sit there at range 1 of 2 or 3 enemy ships unloading on him and not take any (or much) damage. And all the way throwing out 3-4 very accurate red dice.

I just hope the inevitable TLT spam doesn't make him obsolete, so soon after becoming great.

Boba Fett now has Glitterstim.

If he's within range 1 of at least two ships, he's practically invincible to Att2, and Att3 will only graze him. Better yet: He doesn't even need the action to do this, and can fire out his rear arc next turn while clearing stress. So you can ram an opponent, denying them the attack, then shoot their buddy with near-fully modified dice, and then laugh as the rest of a swarm bounces off you.

The impact is huge. It'll even laugh at TLT... the problem is, it'll only be able to laugh for a round. Firesprays are in an awkward spot at Agi2 vs TLTs in general, so I fear they may be stuck in the B-list a little longer still. That one definitely needs playing to see just how it fares.

so Palpatine is going to become standrd issue for the chirpy lists right? that guy looks OP, just saying.

Well depending on how it is used. Unlike C-3PO Palpatine can be used offensively and I have seen him used more in turning Red dice to critical hit then turning green dice to evades. That being said tends to fit better on RAC than on Kenkirk. However since RAC already turns dice to crits Palpatine might not be as useful as shields seem to be carrying more weight.

for boba's 1 round of tlt defense:

round 1, stim

round 2, range 1 :)

Miranda Doni is awesome with TLT. I playtested her the other day. It was a lot of fun.

SCUM Boba sucks... so said some sour-meta-yarblers... as soon as Most Wanted came out.

Get after 'em Bobas!!!

Y-wings appear to be in favor for once. (Rebel Y's that is).

Gold Squadron Pilot [R2 Astromech, Twin Laser Turret] (25) x 4

I expect that we may see something like this go competitive.

Of course I didn't even get to play X-wing this weekend so I don't know what to think yet. -_-

I think Scum Y-Wings are ok too. You can run Syndicate Thug + TLT. You can put Agromech on a couple of them for added strength.
