Geez, another price hike in Canada ...

By Kallel00, in X-Wing

I am local to 401 and meeplemart, and go to both regularly. The prices there are still excessive -- but I think they are probably as low as they can go for them to make a profit. I think there's only one distributor in Canada for FFG (Lion's Rampant), so the prices are pretty much fixed. I've seen higher than 401 and meeplemart, but never lower within Canada (at least, for FFG products).

In Toronto, 401 Games and Meeplemart both had suggested retail prices for American dollars somehow... Not sure if that's changed. Still, I'm not buying online currently and I don't find a drive to Toronto and parking worth the few dollars savings... I'll just suffer the price raise. Look about at different shops though, if you have that option. Big differences between stores from Oakville to Toronto.

You are correct. Lions Rampart are the only game in town. And I envy you being local to those two shops. Just dropped $30 on a ship tonight in Oakville. Not finding much for gaming either in my local area so I have to travel to Toronto just to game.

What store do you go to? I just moved to Oakville couple months ago. Been to HK in Burlington, but I didn't know there was a store more locally.

Just hit Conspiracy Comics on the way home from work. I've also purchased from Lords of War which is more central Oakville. They have gaming space as well and one of the operators is open to flying some Xwing. It's closer to where I work, but is a few dollars more per ship...

You get free medical and you're complaining about $6...

You might actually want to look at how the system works.

Compare it to the American insurance system and you'll see what I mean.

My wife is Canadian and Ive spoken with my FIL and BILs extensively about their health care system.

First of all, the "free" is taken care of by their ridiculously high income taxes! And the sales tax in Manitoba is 14%!!! Shortly after we married, I was making about $20,000 annually in ND and at the same time a Canadian needed to make about $60,000 to live similarly! Remember TANSTAAFL!

Second, if even something like an MRI or CAT scan is needed, the patient may get it done in 6-12 months! My FIL waited over a year to get knee replacement surgery after it was determined they needed to be replaced.

Doesnt sound too great from my POV!

... and that concludes this being a discussion of politics. We now resume our discussion of little plastic space ships that we go "Pew pew!" with.

Meeplemart and 401 still have the best prices by far in the GTA. If you're saving up to buy in bulk (I recommend following them on Facebook, they have a few 10% discount sales per year), the shipping cost is insignificant and more than worth it.

Depending on the retailer its $23-30 NZD for a small based ship, about $5 more for star vipers and K wings. A large ship will set you back anywhere form $40 to $60 depending on where you buy it from and which one it is.
