Which Series do you like better, 'The Clone Wars' or 'Rebels'

By devotedknight, in X-Wing

I mean, you can argue intent vs. nature on that, and I sort of agree, but Rebels primary failure isn't on the intents of its villains, but rather on the character of its heroes.

(and the art, but that's taste)

Hera and Sabine are great support characters and Chopper is far less annoying than C3PO. Zeb is the odd ball for me. But honestly the crew is out to screw with the Empire and has killed many Imperial Pilots and crew members when they destroy imperial ships.

The characters also were rough in the beginning but like most stories that is how many characters start out and after the last extended episode I think they got their stuff together. Darth Vader put the fear of the Dark Side in them something fierce and now they are scared. They can't go back to Lothal anytime soon so all new worlds coming and we are going to see the very first B-Wing.

Anyway, Rebels is awesome because the heroes are amazingly nihilistic. In just the first couple episodes, they

A: steal horrific weapons in order to sell them at a profit
B: start a lethal engagement in the middle of the city over a crate of fruit that the Empire purchased. The driving factor is juvenile one-upmanship between Shia LeBeef and Endangered Angry Man of the Angry and Impulsive People.

Notably, the protagonists concern for bystanders and minimizing harm to civilians is minimal, to the extent it's something they pay attention to at all.

Mind, while it's totally insane it's also a fair amount of fun and is vastly to superior to at least the first season of the Clone Wars.

Chopper is far less annoying than C3PO.

But far more annoying than R2-D2.

Things like this should be counted against the show, not for it...

why are we calling a series that had the cajones to show us how the inquisitor uses dead jedi to lure out living ones kiddy

I like the story line in both, but I HATE the animation style in Rebels. Especially the wookiees.

Because some people can't change their mind once it's been made up. Especially when it comes to things like Star Wars.

Because it takes more than 1 or 2 episodes to change the feel of an entire series.

Siege of Lothal has taken the series in a good direction. IF they keep it up in the 2nd season, then I'll worry about reevaluating my stance on the show.

Considering how the season ended, and how things went in the start of season 2, it's pretty clear that they're keeping it up.

Fortunately the wookies were only in a single episode.

Presumably they are aware of the universal hate regarding how the wookies were animated and, if they have any more wookiee characters, will change who they animate them.

Well, Empire Day was the start of the shift.

I've only seen, on YouTube, the first episode of season one Rebels and "The Gathering" Clone Wars episode.

Rebels was much better.

I'm going to get the Rebels series on DVD at some point.

But I'm put off Clone Wars. Not that I was interested to begin with.

Both shows are for children. They don't make any shows for the audience that grew up. Makes sense, they appeal to kids because they want to sell toys.

You do realize Star Wars was always targeted at a younger audience and that those on this forum play with toys based on Star Wars? Just a reality check.

Super late, but X-wing miniature game miniatures are not toys. It says so on the bottom of every expansion.

Does the existance of rules magically change our micromachines from toys?

"It's not a doll, it's an action figure!"

"It's not a doll, it's an action figure!"

This guy gets it!

But seriously, read the text on the bottom of your Star Wars X-wing and Armada boxes!

THIS PRODUCT IS NOT A TOY

My main problem with Rebels are the characters.

Ezra and Chopper are just annoying. I can't see any redeeming qualities in them. Kanan is boring as is the Wookie wanna be. Jar Jar is a more likeable character to me.

Hera and Sabine at least got something going for them. There seems to be some potential with these two characters.

The show got better overall when Tarkin showed up. The story became way more interesting at that point. I hope they will continue with that trend.

Clone Wars had a rough start but got really good after a couple of seasons. The airing order was a mess tho.
