Yesterday I attended a Store Wars Tournament at my FLGS that had 26 people.

I ran the Following list:

Drea Kavil Slaver

It was a really fun list to fly. I was very happy with how I kitted each pilot out and felt that each were quite strong on their own. With only 1 agility ships I knew I'd probably lose at least 1 ship per game and I was ok with that.

Reasons for the pilots I chose and how I kitted them out were quite simple. Kavil had to have predator so his TLT attacks would hit. Drea would have Target Locks all day and stress didn't matter. Slaver would have target locks due to Bossk crew and Gunner and Tactician was a nice little touch to add some fun with that nice 180 degree firing arc - lol.

Game 1 - against the classic Triple Bounty Hunter List.

He setup on his right corner and I setup on my right corner with all 3 ships. Slaver closest to the edge.

I started to go to the middle and then turned in forcing him to go through the asteroids. First crit on Drea had me turn down my Twin Laser Turret which had me worried. With her unhinged astromech I was able to keep her firing until she went down. I killed 2 of them outright and he flew 1 off the board that had all shields stripped.

WIN 100-29

Game 2 - against Standard Soontir,PTL,AT,SD,Title, Backstabber and 4 Academy pilots.

I setup on my left side this time as he setup on his left side. Forced him through the asteroids as well. I took down Backstabber first and then thanks to Kavil's extra die attacks on Soontir with TLT, he lost his SD and finally was taken out by Drea if I remember correctly. He ended up taking out the Slaver but Kavil and Drea dispatched the academy's fairly easily.

WIN 100-38

Game 3 - against Vader, Patrol Leader and Palpmobile(OGP+Palpatine)

This game lasted the longest - about 60 minutes. I think I setup on my left and he setup on his left. I took Vader out first. He ended up taking Kavil and the Slaver out which kind of had me worried but have no fear as Drea finished off Patrol Leader and then the Palpmobile with 15 minutes left in the round.

WIN 100-71

Game 4 - against another S&V list with Wave 7 goodness in it. He had Palob with TLT, Talonbane Cobra with Glitterstim, N'Dru with Glitterstim and a Pirate. I can't remember what else he had on Cobra and N'Dru but he did have something else - maybe VI on Cobra and cluster missiles on N'Dru.

He setup across the board spread out start from his right, Pirate, Palob, Cobra and finally N'Dru almost on his left side. I setup on my left again. Went straight ahead with Slaver and turned the Y's into the middle. Kavil went after N'Dru and the Slaver and Drea went after Cobra. Cobra fell first, then N'Dru, Paol and finally the pirate. I lost Drea in the mix.

WIN 100-29

Game 5 - Against my first Rebel list with Wave 7 goodness - HLC Dash and TLT Miranda.

I setup on my right and He setup on his right. I bank the Slaver in to the middle and turned the Y's to get them heading into the middle. We ended up in the far right corner where I took Dash down. He had 2 unfortunate R2D2 crew rolls - he lost her pilot ability and a double damage. He managed to takwe down Kavil while I kept my 3 hull Slaver away from the fight. I managed to take down Miranda without taking any Damage to Drea.

WIN 100-33

I ended up having a perfect record of 5-0 for this tournament. There are no top cuts with these as they are a series of events that lead up to an invitational final. My MOV for the day was 800 with 25 win points.

What a fun day!

Kavil had predator for each of his attacks and Drea took stress to get the TL back after using it for the first attack. Slaver used Bossk to get focus and TL for Gunners attack. I ended up only getting to use Tactician a few times during the day but it kept them mostly away from the houndstooth which was OK by me. None of my list cared about stress and in fact I had a ton of stress on Drea and the Slaver most of the day due to tactician against me and using Drea's ability. TLT is a perfect companion for the Y-wings(and for the Kwing for that matter)

Bought my ships on Friday and came up with the list then and ran it once in practice against my son who ran HLC Dash and TLT Miranda(he wasn't my opponent for Game 5 BTW but he did finish 2-3 for the day and had a blast flying Miranda and Slamming) and won that game too so I am 6-0 with the list.

This is a list I will definitely fly again and in fact many of the other guys at the tournament asked me what I ran at the end. My local FLGS sold out of Kwings and Houndsteeth right then and there - lol.

Really cool list! I wonder: if Tactician didn't do that much for you, what do you think about just throwing another Unhinged 'Mech on Kavil and taking the initiative bid?

Thanks. Even though I only triggered Tactician a couple of times during the tournament it still was very usefull in having the opponent try to keep their ships at range 3 of the slaver. You don't want to be in range 1 with a TL, Gunner and Bossk's ability and you don't want to be at range 2 due to tactician. It served its purpose.

I'm also trying another build with Drea swapped out for Palob with TLT and Predator. Same PS but more green dice and less HP so it is a tradeoff. He also gets to steal tokens at range 1-2 so they will want to stay in the tlt sweet zone of range 3 from him. Both builds are a lot of fun to fly. Bunch the asteroids or debirs in the middle and fly towards them forcing your opponent into the mess if they want to shoot at you.

I played this list last night against Chiraneau+predator+gunner+ysanne and Redline with EM, cluster missiles and advanced homing missiles. Redline was nasty. I would have had chiraneau down and redline in a bad position if the slaver had managed to live 1 more round but alas he rolled 4 hits and I rolled a blank with only 4 hull left. Palob went down early and easy against the cluster missiles and so did Kavil. I'm going to play this list again. He flew over debris a few times with redline which was unexpected and even drew a crit to get rid of his last shield. This put him behind the slaver with chiraneau ahead so it was an uphill battle for the poor slaver.

Replacing Drea with Palob was a mistake - lol. He gets focused on and goes down way too easily. 5 HP is just not enough even with 2 greens.

I played your original list, with the exception of an unhinged mech on Kavil instead of the tactician, and it was an absolute blast.

My opponent played a punisher and a bomber with some rockets and bombs and a named TIE. Since I haven't played in a while, I made a few mistakes (closed in too fast and couldn't shoot at range 1 with the Ys).

But in the end I destroyed all his ships without loosing a single ship, although the Slaver was down to 2 HPs.

I'll probably take the list to the tournament this weekend. I usually play rebels, but I thought it would be time for something different.

I'm finding just how effective the list is the more I play it.
