I played 2 games to day with y wings with ion turret and boy do they piss my brother off .man are they nasty i don't think all use them again .does any one else see this problem

Seems much more effective to fly 2Ys with TLTs and 2Ys with ICTs.

New ion bombs can compensate for lack of ion turrets

Hey, it might be a trolly thing to do, but it's legal and fair game. It's like drop pods and playing eldar/tau/breakfast brigade. (My friends give me all the **** for my heavy (FLUFFY) drop pod use).

It's not. The classic Y-wing is a BTL-S3 with Ion Cannon Turret. BTL-A4s are more common nowadays because they're higher damage, but they're harder to fly.
The issue with four Golds or Syndicate Thugs with BTL-S3 and Ion is that they deal very little damage: thee's not much to exploit the ion effect.

You should also try Ion Pulse Missiles and Ion Torpedoes for good effect.

This is true, but i've found that walking expensive ships off the board works well. Back before PWT's were a major thing the humble Y-wing was a beast.

It was cool pushing shipa iff the board i had 2 y wing gold squad and 2 ewing man did the. do some work against 4acdemoy tie fighters back staber and sootir fel but the best part was when i went head to head with y wing against sootir at rang one rolled 3attacks and killed sootir and he had 4 green dice first time i ever one shot a ship before

Cheap moves may be countered. Ions have their counters. like TLTs. Like Fat Han, Like Swarms, like Scum HWKs, like X1Vader, like interthrusters, like brobots, like Phantoms, like Biggs.
All of these have counters, you just need to play them. The ones that don't have counters, (CR90/Raider/GR75 with Navigator) have been faq'ed to be illegal.
Yes i read the rules . i don't see how u can be blocked when u can fly thru ships and stuff. i just find it a big **** move ion ship o look all u can keep doing is going 1foward for 5 truns
