I did throw together a couple quick lists that might be interesting for Imperial and Rebel Boba and then a Kayn Somos - haven't really done the command decks yet
Imperial Boba
1 - Temporary Alliance
13 - Boba Fett
6 - Heavy Stormtroopers
8 - Royal Guards
8 - Royal Guards
2 - Imperial Officer
2 - Imperial Officer
Rebel Boba - My idea here was to maximize command card drawing and kind of stumbled on it when I ended up with three points left over and saw Rebel High Command
13 - Boba Fett
6 - Saska Teft
9 - Biv Bodrik
3 - R2 D2
3 - Gideon
3 - Mak
1 - Balance of the Force
2 - Rebel High Command
Kayn's Pain Train - Obviously it will all come down to the command cards (would love to hear your opinions) but I really feel the officers are needed to move Kayn around and get the most out of his command card, his firing squad and being able to hopefully attack and use his focus for troops.
10 - Kayn Somos
6 - Storm Trooper
6 - Storm Trooper
6 - Heavy Stormtrooper
6 - Heavy Stormtrooper
2 - Imperial Officer
2 - Imperial Officer
2 - Imperial Officer
Anyways would love to hear people's thoughts and if this needs to be in a different forum, just let me know. Mainly put it here after reading where this whole post went discussion wise and now that wave 2 is out want to get some discussion going about how officers have been affected/new options for lists to go against JUST officers and royal guards.
Kayn and Elite Stormtroopers =

The Elites are already strong, but their synergy with Kayn really makes them pop. However, it's 28pts just for Kayn and 2x Elite STs. So 12pts for the rest of the squad...8 for Guards and 4 for two Officers:
10 Kayn
9 Elite Stormtrooper
9 Elite Stormtrooper
8 Royal Guard
2 Officer
2 Officer
This is a squad I haven't used yet, but it's definitely near the top of my idea list.
Instead of the royal guards I'd probably go with the elite heavy troopers for the added synergy.
I see what you are saying but I disagree. I wouldn't recommend playing Imperial without at least one of their most efficient units, especially in a list where having 3-4 guys focused at any given moment is s real possibility.
The environment is really hard to analyze right now (which is a good thing), there are lots of lists doing well in different ways. I think post-pass the easiest way to look at a lot of it is how efficient a given unit is and finding a good mix, preferably in a way that min/max's them.
Some of the more efficient units (in no particular order):
Royal Guards
Luke Skywalker
Elite Saboteurs
Elite Probe Droids
Gideon Argus
Elite Stormies
Elite Rebel Troopers
3PO
