Kovin feels the anger rising within him. He hates the Flesh Raiders - they burn the forests, slaughter the animals, enslave lesser beings, and stand for everything he opposes. However, even as he feels this bearing on him he feels another presence at his side. Vengeance can - should - wait. He needs to protect Maya. And a little bit, she needs to protect him from the darkness within him. Her reassurance is all he needs to contain himself - though the reassuring feeling of Zelt's mind nudging against his own, the simple intelligence that has been his companion for many years, is also a factor. Kovin breathes deeply, and turns away from the Flesh Raiders. And turns towards the mysterious strangers with weapons drawn who've just crashed their ship through a rather lovely mangrove thicket...

Xan fixes the retreating Flesh Raider with a steely stare. "I was more than willing to talk," he said to him, "but you chose to fight, and you did so poorly. Make the same mistake again, and it will go worse for you."
I continue to keep my eyes on them and my lightsaber at the ready until they are gone.
Trusting Xan to alert him to any changes in the situation, Seifer extinguishes his blade and returns it to it's place on his left belt clip while turning to face the pair of Togrutans.
"Well my young friends, your help was greatly appreciated. I am Jedi Seifer Halcyon. My companions came here on an important mission. Obviously we've had a few setbacks." Seifer calmly states. "Perhaps you would be gracious enough to answer a few questions for me. How did you come to be here? It's also clear you can use the Force... have you had training?"
Ill keep my force die committed until it's clear it's no longer necessary, at which point I'd like to make discipline check to attempt to recover strain.
Edited by Silver CraneThe Flesh Raiders have retreated into the jungle.
With the Flesh Raiders all but gone, the group was able to turn and address each other, and to deal with the small matter of the rapidly spreading flames which now engulfed the wrecked starship and threatened to topple more, and larger, branches into the clearing.
The fat flesh raider stood at the edge of the clearing for a moment, regarding Seifer coldly, before vanishing over the ridge, the way his minions had gone.
Strain Recovery check time...please make a Simple (-) Cool or Discipline check, recovering strain equal to the number of Successes showing. We are in narrative time now, so you don't have to "wait your turn" before taking an action.
Looks like just one for me, putting me to 4/13 strain.

"I'll be honest, I'm not fully convinced we should have let those beasts get away." Firan says, expressing his concerns.
"I have a pretty good feeling they'll be back, and with greater numbers. We may want to find another place to take shelter."
"Perhaps these locals know of a safe place?" He looks over at Maya and Kovin, "Also, I appreciate your help in the fight. It was unnecessary for you to assist us, it speaks much of your character that you would put yourself in the way of danger."

Kovin turns towards the warriors who have just arrived on his planet. Pushing Maya behind him, he spins his staff above his head and brings it down in a braced, defensive posture. "Who are you?" he asks. "What's a Jedi? Were you sent by the Hutt? What's the Force?" his fear is palpable in your eyes.
Maya breathed a quiet sigh of relief. No. Not Sith. They're Jedi.
All around them the flames were continuing to burn. Normally, she would have preferred to let Kovin handle the situation, but this place was becoming unsafer by the minute. "My name's Maya and this is Kovin." she gestured to the fires around them. "Let's talk once we're out of harm's way."

Kovin grabs Maya's arm as she walks towards them. "What are you doing?" he hisses. "We don't know who they are. What if the Hutts sent them?"
Maya's gaze traveled from the spreading fires then back Kovin. In a low voice she said "Maybe. Or they could be a way off this planet. In either case we won't know until we talk to them."
In a raised voice she said to the others "Come on. Lets get away from the fires. They'll be enough scare away any wildlife, but the Flesh Raiders will likely return, and in greater numbers."
I see what you did there.
Kovin shakes his head. "Maybe," he says. "Come on, we'll take you to our home. Then you can tell us all about you." he limps coldly away.

"Correct, none of us are working for the Hutts.... anymore."
"Probably not the best choice of words Firan. That said, we should take the opportunity to leave before any more of those creatures return."
Edited by Silver CraneFiran, Xan, Jonas and Seifer discussed the basics of their orders while the six vacated the area. Their superiors, in guidance from the Force, had identified the planet Tython, looked up what information existed in the archives, and discovered that the planet had an ancient Jedi temple. This was the intended landing site for the group, but if their instruments were correct, they were at least 50 miles (give or take) from the primeval temple grounds.
Now, there was the question of what to do. Night had fallen on this side of the planet.
Kovin looks up at the waning light in the sky. He knows of where they speak of - he's been there once or twice - and he knows how long and arduous a trek it is. "Come on," he turns to the others. "We'll take you to our home. It's a cave only a short distance away. We'll be safe there overnight, and hopefully you can answer some questions." Kovin looks to see if they agree.
"Questions?" There is a brief pause as soon as the word is spoken, as if Jonas is thinking on it. A soft chuckle and a shrug of his shoulders ends that pause.
"A bit of conversation and some answers in exchange for shelter and relative safety? It sounds fair enough to me, Kovin," he finally replies. "At least if we can indeed answer those questions of yours."
Kovin suddenly brightens. "Great!" he says, twirling his staff and planting it by his foot. "Let's go," he strides purposely off towards the nearby hills, his limp noticeably reduced.
Night is drawing in as they enter the mouth of the cavern. Strewn about are a few meagre personal possessions - blankets, straw beds, unprepared food - and there is an oddly homely atmosphere. A tally of scratches on the wall, covering a vast area, expresses how long Kovin has been here. A small, near set at the bottom show Maya to have only just arrived. Kovin bids the group welcome, and soon has a campfire going as night falls and the sounds of the Tythonian wilds begin to rise up the hillside.
Edited by ColonelCommissarMaya laid her things down by her sleeping pallet before removing the outer layer of her deep burgundy robes. As she hung them on a stick she had plucked days before, she turned to the others. She looked to Kovin first, expecting him to take control of the situation, but he seemed equal parts apprehension and excitement.
"As I said earlier. My name's Maya. I've only been here for a few weeks. My escape pod crashed not far from here. That's how Kovin found me." She adding, offering him a friendly smile. "He's been here far longer than I have. We're more interested in what you are doing here. You said you all were Jedi, right?"
"Yes, about that. What is a Jedi? What is the Force? And what are those weapons you wield?"
Edited by ColonelCommissar"Most of us are Jedi." Firan corrects her, putting his carbine back into its slot on his back and leaning against the wall of the cave. More comfortable now than he was in the wilderness, but still not enough to truly relax.
Kovin takes in the injuries of Jonas and the others. "You're injured. I can help," He delves into the depths of his pack, pulling out a battered but recognisable emergency medpac. He passes it to Seifer. "You look like you know your way around a medpac Brains, give him a hand. And perhaps in exchange for that you could fill me in on what a Jedi - or whatever you're supposed to be - does for a living."
Seifer has the best Medicine/Intellect balance so I'll assume he wants to do the check. Have an emergency medpac!
"Heh," Jonas chuckles in mild amusement as he waits for Seifer to do his thing, hoping it will stop his head from continuing to ring. "Considering how things are these days? What most Jedi are probably doing for a living, those that are still alive that is, would be running or hiding or both if they want to remain that way."
As his gaze turns towards his Zabrak companion though, he sighs softly and shrugs. "Then again, there are those among us that think differently, that prefer another way. And they tend to be pretty persuasive at times." He winks to both Kovin and Maya. "Although I will admit that it did not take too much of an effort to persuade me. I was already on my way to thinking differently in more or less the same way lately anyway."
