"They do not look particularly friendly," Jonas notes a little drily. "Xan?"

Although he would prefer not to take the initiative and attack first, he does not remain idle. After all, he may not be drawing his lightsaber, not just yet at least, but the Force is a powerful ally even when one appears unarmed. Assuming a more defensive stance at the same time, he opens himself to it, his senses heightening and his reflexes quickening as he gains the ability to almost sense an attack before it comes. And with the ability to anticipate a strike comes the added advantage of becoming capable of avoiding it, provided one is fast enough that is.

It has been quite a while since he used this power last and finally being able to connect with it once again, with the Force that grants it and fuels it, brings a little smile to his lips.

Wounds 0/17; Strain 0/13; Defense Melee 1, Ranged 0; Soak 4

Maneuver: Assume a guarded stance. Jonas gains melee defense +1 and adds 1 Setback die to any combat checks he makes until the end of his next turn.

Action: Use Sense (Control - Upgrade Difficulty) and commit 1 Force die. Once per round, when an attack targets Jonas, the difficulty is upgraded once (to make things a little easier, shall we say it is the first attack against him each round?).

Hope it is alright that I took the first spot? I just thought we would not strike first (being nice guys and all) and it makes sense to use... err, Sense preemptively when things look like they are about to get ugly. If there is a problem, I can retcon it and take another spot though, no worries. :)

By the way, when there is a fight, I will also be posting Jonas' relevant vital stats for easy reference (using purple because... well, I just like it; nothing to do with my preferred lightsaber blade color, I assure you... :P).

I intend to use Negotiation to assure them we did not mean to trespass and have not come looking for a fight, but I have to wait until the two NPCs go first. My intent will be to raise my hands palms outwards in the hopes of conveying peaceful intentions before delivering my message, seeing as we may not share a common language. If I can at least make the gesture before they act, I will.

The nearby firelight reflecting off of their spearheads, the ambushers at the front reached Jonas first. Since he had presented such a willing target, they mobbed him with their spears. Being a competent warrior, Jonas was ready for the first couple jabs, and landed a solid punch on the nearest alien close to him, but there were simply too many to account for. Jonas began to be overrun.

Attacking Jonas: 3eP+1eC+1eD+1eS 1 success, 1 threat
p-s-a.pngp-a.pngp-s-s.pngc-f-f.pngd-th-th.pngs-th.png

Jonas takes 8 damage (remember to subtract your soak). The threat is used to give the minion group 1 strain.

The leader of the forward band had stopped short of the charge, seeking advantage over a ranged foe. He saw the Xan Yarr and something like a wicked smile played over his ugly lips. He loosed his primitive stone-weighted net, and knocked the Zabrak down before he could get a word out. The alien roared in triumph and beat his chest.

Throwing a net at Xan: 2eP+1eA+1eB+1eD 1 success, 4 advantage

p-a-a.pngp-s-a.pnga-s-a.pngb--.pngd-f.png

Xan takes 3 damage (which is entirely negated by his soak), but is also knocked prone and immobilized (cannot perform maneuvers) for three turns. Xan can attempt a Hard Athletics check to free himself.

Next PC please! If attacking, remember to upgrade the difficulty of your action once (I will be spending a Dark Side Destiny point).

Any attempts to reason with these beings requires a Daunting (vAUuWiq.pngPZZOkjQ.pngPZZOkjQ.pngPZZOkjQ.png) Charm check, with 3 Setback dice included (they can't understand you, they outnumber you, and they've already begun to attack).

Given that Kovin and Maya are at long range and unobserved, at what range would they be close enough to be spotted by the enemy?

Athletics: 2eA+3eD 1 failure, 1 advantage

a-a.pnga-a.pngd-f.pngd--.pngd-th.png

Xan never got the chance to speak; the snarling alien immediately ensnared him with the net it whipped towards him, catching him by surprise. Pulled off balance, he lost his footing, but at least managed to fall forwards on his knees. He attempted futilely to free himself, but the net proved too strong. Noting that the gloating alien still had hold of the net, however, Xan pulled the net towards himself as hard as he could; while it failed to free him, it did pull the alien off balance and, to Xan's satisfaction, also wiped the sneer off it's bestial face as it attempted to regain its balance.

I use my advantage to give the next character a boost die, since the alien's off-balance.

Given that Kovin and Maya are at long range and unobserved, at what range would they be close enough to be spotted by the enemy?

You can move to medium range (two maneuvers) without being observed. Any closer will require a Stealth check.

Athletics: 2eA+3eD 1 failure, 1 advantage

a-a.pnga-a.pngd-f.pngd--.pngd-th.png

Please narrate your turn, and indicate how you'd like your Advantage to be used!

Also, you guys have a lot of Destiny Points, and I'm trying to give you more...I suggest you use them for the more difficult rolls.

Seifer, seing Xan and Jonas being engaged by the first group, reacts by igniting his lightsaber while turning to face the flanking group then assumes a basic Soresu ready stance.

Maneuver: Defensive Stance upgrading the difficulty of all incoming attacks against me untill my next turn.

Action: Use Sense (Control - Upgrade Difficulty) and commit 1 Force die. Once per round, when an attack targets Seifer, the difficulty is upgraded once. I'll use it on the first incoming range attack since I have 2 melee defense.

I'll likely attempt to parry and, if possible, improved parry the first few incoming melee attacks.

It's my intention to attack the group mobbing Jonas. Will my difficulty be upgraded by the destiny point? Are they still short range from me?

Edited by Revanchist7

Maya's burgundy and dark gray robes billowed in her wake as she ran past Kovin, paying little heed to his warning, and closed the distance to get a closer look at the survivors. "I see lightsabers. But are they Sith? No! How did they find me?! No. they don't look like Sith. But I should still be careful"

Panic began to consume her, but she directed her feelings to more constructive means. The Force revealed to her the Flesh Raiders tactics and the survivors doom should they continued their current strategies.

"Those are flesh raiders! " She called to them. "They're merciless savages! You can't reason with them. Watch out for the flanking group!"

Maya spends two strain to perform two maneuvers to close the distance from Long to Medium. She then uses her action to perform the Forewarning action. Everyone who hasn't gone will increase their defense by 3 until they go. So it's likely only going to benefit one PC. But hey. It's something.

It's my intention to attack the group mobbing Jonas. Will my difficulty be upgraded by the destiny point? Are they still short range from me?

Yes, if you're attacking with a ranged weapon it'll actually be upgraded twice: once from the Destiny Point, once from shooting into melee. So your difficulty to attack the group engaged with Jonas would be vAUuWiq.pngPZZOkjQ.png. Despair on a Success results in hitting Jonas instead of the fleshy dudes.

Attacking any other entity on the field right now, for you, is Easier (vAUuWiq.png) and doesn't run the risk of killing your ally :)

Additionally, the raiders in the rear group are all engaged with each other right now. So that's something.

Remember to included the Boost die from Xan's failed Athletics check (feel free to narrate appropriately, based on the results shown on the Boost die).

I sense a whole load of guys rushing me next turn.

Shooting at the one unbalanced by Xan instead.

Attack aliens: 2eP+2eA+1eC+1eB 5 successes, 1 advantage
p-s.pngp-s.pnga-s-s.pnga-a.pngc-th.pngb-s-a.png

As Firan draws the blaster carbine from his back he shouts out, "These are rabid animals! Fighting back wouldn't be the worst idea!"

"Jonas can handle himself, hopefully," Firan thinks to himself, "If he lights up that blasted lasersword at least."

The alien struggling with Xan over its net seems like an easy target. Without hesitation Firan fires of a few bolts into the beast.

Maneuver to pull out my weapon.

Action is my attack, base damage is 9, five successes, and +1 for point blank gives us 15 wounds for our alien friend.

Pass the Advantage as a boost to whomever goes next. Perhaps the aliens are shocked by the sight of a blaster bolt, or maybe inspiration comes from me taking action.

Edited by Revanchist7

The ugly raider's roars turned to screams as Firan's blaster bolts hit...one, two, three...into its shoulders and upper chest area. It stumbled back ever so slightly, then paused for a moment, looking at the smoldering pock-marks in its leathery hide. Then it stared straight at Firan. Some kind of guttural words were uttered through its mouth, rising to a crescendo...was he chanting? Giving orders?

Perhaps the answer was apparent...from behind now, the flanking ambushers joined the fray, pushing past Seifer and barreling into Firan.

Attacking Firan: 3eP+2eD+1eS 0 successes, 1 advantage
p-s-a.pngp-a-a.pngp-s.pngd-th.pngd-f-th.pngs-f.png

Firan was an accomplished combatant, and used his armor to his full advantage. The primitive spears were no match for the composite material in his suit.

There are now groups engaged with Firan and Jonas. All enemies are at short range to everyone else, except for Maya who is medium range from the fray and Kovin who is at long range.

And speaking of Kovin, guess who's turn it is!

"Dammit Maya, I told you to stay back. You'll get yourself killed, and that'll reflect badly on me!" Kovin's concern for the safety of his charge is outweighed however by equal feeling of compassion for those he sees to be in peril, and also hatred against the Flesh Raiders, who hunt the creatures of the forest and burn the trees to forge their weapons. Lofting his stave to its customary place across he shoulders, he whistles softly, hearing the sound fade on the breeze. The nudging of another mind against his own indicates to him that his command has been heard. This done, he sets off after Maya.

In the bushes nearby, a sinuous shape lifts from its crouch and bounds towards the enemy.

Maneuver - move towards the crash site (half Long Range)

Maneuver - command Zelt to follow him and protect Maya

Zelt's Maneuver - move to medium range

I'll take the two strain.

In the light of the increasing flames, Seifer stood eye to eye with the rear group's leader, a particularly fat raider with a massive blade. The thing looked as if it were stripped from an ancient starship and sharpened, and its mass suited its wielder. The fat alien lumbered forward, and swung his cleaver-like weapon down with incredible force.

Attacking Seifer: 3eP+1eA+1eB+1eC+1eD+2eS 1 success, 4 advantage
p-s.pngp-a-a.pngp-s-a.pnga-a.pngb-a.pngc-th.pngd--.pngs--.pngs-f.png

That's 9 damage! Seifer Soaks 4 of it, and Parries the rest (congratulations!) per request. Good thing he doesn't have Pierce ;)

Stepping to the side, Seifer raised his blade in a classic Form III defensive posture. It would have been folly to try and meet the blade, since the resulting falling metal could have easily lopped off his arm, so he instead warded off the sweeping figure-eight swings the flesh raider was using. However, his balance was thrown quite off, and at the last the raider's sword caught Seifer's hand on an upswing, jarring the Jedi's lightsaber from his hand. The weapon deactivated and sailed through the air, landing a good distance away on the grassy floor.

New round! First PC is up, and I will be upgrading the difficulty of the next skill check

Seifer is engaged with the fat raider leader, Firan and Jonas have their own groups of five to contend with. The ugly raider leader is still standing off at short range. Kovin and Maya are at lond and medium range, respectively, from the general melee.

Edited by awayputurwpn

Seifer breaks away and retrieves his lightsaber, reigniting it's pale blue blade. "Well that's the Halcyon bloodline for you." Seifer thinks to himself. Clearly his lack of telekinesis has been a hindrance before.

I'll take a maneuver to disengage and then trade my action for a maneuver. I'll spend my Sense difficulty upgrade on any of the fat one's attacks if he rengages and aim to parry (and improved parry if possible)

Edited by Silver Crane

Attacking Seifer (again): 3eP+1eA+1eB+1eC+1eD+2eS 0 successes, 1 advantage
p--.pngp-s-a.pngp-s.pnga--.pngb-a-a.pngc-th-th.pngd--.pngs-f.pngs-f.png

The fat flesh raider rushed at Seifer, determination in his grim face. This time the Jedi was ready. He stepped inside the raider's swings, looking for an opening while keeping up his excellent defenses. This kept the raider from being able to land an effective blow, but it also hampered Seifer's mobility.

I'll get the next NPC turn up soon, after which it'll be PCs galore.

Can I cut through the net binding me with my lightsaber?

While the raiders converged on the party of four, their ugly leader walked slowly to the trapped Xan, drawing his hefty spear menacingly and giving a sort of...chortle?

Can I cut through the net binding me with my lightsaber?

Since you do not have your lightsaber drawn, it's a Hard (PZZOkjQ.pngPZZOkjQ.pngPZZOkjQ.png) Coordination check to get it out. But yes, once you draw it, you can cut through the net with little effort. Heck, for that matter, anyone could free you if they had an effective cutting implement.

Next PC please!

Maya could not hear Kovin, and barely registered Zelt's presence. She closed in on the Raiders, not caring if she gave away her position. As she got closer, she noticed a particular nasty looking brute with a large spear advancing upon a trapped survivor. Picking this raider as her target she raised her hand in an open fist - as if cupping an imaginary sphere - and concentrated on her hatred of these savages and in what the problems they've cause her and Kovin in the past.

Maya spends a maneuver to get in Short range of the leader and uses bind.

Bind Force power roll: 3eF 3 Dark Side
f-ds.pngf-ds.pngf-ds.png

Yeesh. the Dark side is strong with her. I'm interested to see how this session turns out with her. I could totally use Natural mystic to reroll that and spend strain + DP to avoid the conflict, but again, I'm curious to see where this all goes. I'll eat the 3 conflict. 1 point to activate the base power to immobilize him, another to disorient him for a round, and a final one to activate the control. Should he take an action while under these effects, he'll suffer 3 strain. Finally, I'm not sure how to rule the wounds part. I generated 3 dark side pips, but all 3 were spent. So would that be 3 wounds to him as well? That part was never clear to me. I'll let you decide how that's handled, Awayputurwpn.

Tongues of flame lanced out from the nearby brush fires and began to snake around the lead raider. Though the flames only licked his skin, the oxygen around him was slowly being consumed by the fire, making it harder for him to break.

Taking a maneuver to disengage, spending strain to True Aim, and blasting the group that rushed me.

Attack aliens: 3eP+1eA+1eD+1eB 5 successes, 1 advantage, 1 Triumph
p-tr.pngp-a-a.pngp-s.pnga-s-s.pngd-th.pngb-s.png

5 successes will equal 14 wounds again, the Triumph will be used to take out a minion.

"This is a little closer than I'm comfortable with." Firan thinks to himself, "I need some distance."

Dodging the ferocious jabs of the alien's spears, Firan slowly backs up. There's so many of them, all crowding towards him at once, it takes a bit of effort for him to create some distance and line up his shot.

Pulling the trigger his first blaster bolt goes straight through the head of a raider. A few more bolts fire off into the advancing crowd.

As the first raider drops, the one next to him catches a chest full of blasterfire and goes down, too.

3 wounds for Bind are good!
