[PbP] Shadows of the Future IC

"Don't lecture me about the ecosystem. I've been on this planet for a lot longer than you have and I've picked up a thing or two. All life is to be cherished. Some lives must be taken, if I must protect other lives, or if I have to eat, but to kill for no good reason? That would be evil. I could not do that."

Kovin considers. "Could we use the Force to block their camp into the canyon? Collapse the rocks and leave them there. They'd be alive, but unable to harm more than a small area."

Would it be appropriate to roll a knowledge check of some more to figure out what I've learned about the Flesh Raiders?

Would it be appropriate to roll a knowledge check of some more to figure out what I've learned about the Flesh Raiders?

Absolutely. You can make a Hard Knowledge (Lore) check or an Average Knowledge (Xenology) check, with a Boost die owing to your recent interactions with them.

I shall do the Knowledge (Lore) check.

Knowledge (Lore) Check: 2eA+1eP+1eB+3eD 0 successes, 4 advantage

Maya hadn't learned much about the Flesh Raiders in her short time on Tython, but what she did know was that Kovin was likely to know all about them.

Kovin can make the same Knowledge check (Average Xenology, or Hard Lore) but with two extra boost dice from the circumstances (so three boost dice altogether).

Knowledge (Xenology) roll: 2eA+3eB+2eD 1 failure, 1 advantage
a-a-a.pnga--.pngb-s.pngb--.pngb--.pngd-f-th.pngd-f.png

Not the most productive roll...

Knowledge (Lore): 1eB+1eP+1eA+3eD 1 failure, 2 threat

Sigh...

Wrack their brains as they might, Kovin's idea of collapsing the canyon's exit seemed the simplest and easiest.

Do you guys wanna go forward with this plan?

"I have some facility with the Force when it comes to moving objects, but collapsing the canyon exit is probably beyond me. Do you have a plan for how this can be done?"

"Are you the limit to which the Force can act, Xan Yarr?"

Firan looks through his gear. "I have some grenades," he says, "But I doubt they pack the punch we're looking for."

Maya chewed back her words. "Of course it was a test"

When the gatekeeper presented his second test. she was not sure what to do. The flesh raiders were viscous savages, incapable of courtesy and peaceful coexistence. Wouldn't pinning them off just cut them off from their hunting grounds and livelihoods? That would be a slower way of death. "After weeks of hunting Kovin and I, and just Kovin for even longer, they deserve it."

She didn't care about the Flesh Raiders, and she had no alternative plan. So in the end she kept her thoughts to herself.

"No, I am not the limit to which the Force can act, Gatekeeper, which is why I asked my allies for assistance."

"Ah...your allies. Yes. You will find that you can accomplish far more together than you can apart," said the Gatekeeper. "Focus your energies, and seemingly impossible tasks will become possible, as long as you work together."

You may, if you wish, perform an Impossible (PZZOkjQ.pngPZZOkjQ.pngPZZOkjQ.pngPZZOkjQ.pngPZZOkjQ.png) Discipline check (requires a Destiny Point to be spent for the attempt).

Further, to accomplish this feat, every Force user in the party must be involved. To be involved, each Force user must roll their Force dice. All pips (dark and light) rolled are used to add Success to the roll. Dark Side pips are automatically used, and do not require a Destiny Point to use in this instance, but do give 1 strain and 1 Conflict each to (as normal) the Force user.

This also means that, naturally, the best Discipline skill rank & best Willpower rating are used to form the skill pool, as per the Skilled Assistance rules.

Now that you know the risks...do you want to go ahead?

Update: I forgot, Xan Yarr has the best Willpower & Discipline rank. So you can use his Willpower and Discipline, and include 1 Boost die for "Unskilled Assistance" from any other PC.

Would Maya be suffering the strain for Darkside points as well?

Would Maya be suffering the strain for Darkside points as well?

Maya would suffer strain for a Light Side pip, but gain Conflict for the Dark Side pips.

Such is the cost of such a risky venture :)

To buy in to the idea, all you have to do is roll your Force dice. Then once we have everyone's Force dice rolled, any of the Force users can make the Discipline check (using Xan Yarr's Discipline pool + 1 Boost die).

Do I roll a Force Die too, or is just those who are assisting?

If the answer is yes:

Force Die: 1eF 1 Dark Side

Yes, everybody rolls their Force dice (unless they refuse, which is fair, but which will likely cause the attempt to fail)

Seifer takes a deep breath and allows himself to sink into a deep meditative state and begins to draw upon the power of the Force...

Kovin reaches out with the Force, seeking to help his companions. He has little experience with telekinesis, so he seeks out the cracks and fault lines in the rock, the areas of weakness that he can exploit. He reaches out to his companions, sharing this information for them to exploit. For a moment he is taken with anger at the Flesh Raiders' crimes, but then it passes. He focuses on what must be done.

Force Rating: 3eF 3 Dark Side

One-by-one the others fell in to the will of the Force. Reluctantly, Maya too joined in their concert.

She felt the energies of the Force flow like a river through her. To guide her, she reminded herself of the threat she was trying to quell. The savage and harmful Flesh Raiders. Just the thought of them filled her with anger. As her anger boiled, so too did the power she was channeling.

Alright, just need that Impossible Discipline check now :) I'll let anyone make it. 1eP+3eA+1eB+5eD

The Force swirls about the ravine, growing ever stronger. Kovin now reaches out in it; this was his plan, and now he focuses the combined energies into its achievement. Light and dark flows through him and becomes one. He strains, and tries to focus his mind:

Use the Force...: 1eP+3eA+1eB+5eD 1 success, 1 threat
p-s.pnga-s-a.pnga-s-s.pnga--.pngb-a.pngd-f.pngd-f.pngd-th.pngd-f-th.pngd-th.png

9+1=10 successes motherkarker! I'll take +1 strain

The rocks crack, faultlines splitting, boulders separating, and then everything comes apart. At both ends of the ravine, the cliffs split apart. The Flesh Raiders look up at what is happening, and then begin to flee from the boulders falling. When the dust clears, their state becomes apparent: they and their camp is unharmed, with a small area of a jungle nearby from which they can gather food - if they are responsible. He is relieved. Truly, the Force is strong in him...
