Nah, we're ok. Four automatic successes remember?
I forgot last night, remembered coming back to this thread this morning.
Firan had identified the exact location on the ravine wall that would create a rockslide. The blaster bolt rang out in the clear morning, striking the rocks and letting loose several large boulders. There was commotion in the camp, and all attention was drawn to the falling rocks.
Success is yours! You arrive at a safe distance away, unmolested, unless of course you want to kill Flesh Raiders... ![]()
Please narrate yourselves through the camp.
As Firan lined up his shot, a path became clear to Maya. She foresaw a great amount of panic in the coming minutes, but she also saw a vision of a mightY Flesh Raider. This flesh raider was far more cunning than his kin, and tracked the shot back to their nest.
When the rocks began to tumble she grabbed the nearest companion, and to the others she said "There's a small group coming this way, I think we should be fine if we take this route."
With that she began to lead the others away from party she knew would be on them soon enough.
Edited by kaosoeXan, nodding his head in appreciation, clasped Firan's shoulder. "Well done, friend." Vodo couldn't have made a better shot.
With that, he followed the others, trusting in the Force--and in the abilities of his companions--to see them safely through.
Pausing to have Zelt place himself between the party and the others, Kovin strikes out after Maya, appreciative of Firan's efforts. The group tracks into the ditch he had earlier detected, slipping right under the noses of the Flesh Raiders.
"I wasn't sure I'd make that one, maybe the Force is with me after all." Firan jokes as he marches after Maya and the rest of the group.
"A nice shot my Mandolorian friend. Let's move!"
As the group moves, Seifer heads up the rear, watching for any signs of enemies trying to pursue the group.
Once clear of the flesh raiders camp, Maya coaxed the others to put some distance between themselves and the savages before taking a break. Once they were confident that the raiders were not on their tail, Maya turned to the others. "I want to officially apologize to you all. I should not have broken down like that. I could have given away our positions. Then I really would have doomed us all."
"Don't worry about it. We got through alright, and that's all that matters. Now, who's leading on?"
Do we still need a Survival check for today?
As the group drew through the ravine, they came to an incline which led them up and out of the valley. There at the crest of the incline was a strange, metallic pedestal that stood at about waist-height to the heroes. It looked almost like a hologram projector, but several magnitudes larger.
Past the pedestal, the land fell away in gentle grassy slopes. Tall rocky pillars and mounds littered the landscape, offsetting the grass. More jungle could be seen several miles on, but here everything was out in the open.
Overhead was a small flock of reptavian, circling in a wide path.
The pedestal, which had been standing silent, now began to click and whirr as the heroes approached.
No Survival check just yet. I'll be out for 24 hours, but in the meantime please continue your excellent rp!
"I haven't seen this before," Kovin darts up to the pedestal, Zelt following in his wake. "Well hello, what are you? I haven't seen you before! My name's Kovin Daur, and this is Zelt. How do you do?"
"Be careful, Kovin," Xan cautions. "We don't know what that is yet."
Keeping his distance, Xan inspects the object, reaching out in the Force to see if he can sense anything unusual.
"Ah, don't be so careful. You'll never learn anything if you don't explore!" Kovin looks around for a control panel or other such thing on the device.
"Heh, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Or leaves you with a nasty limp. Either way you learn something though!"
Up from the front of the pedestal rose a small, ornate, upturned claw..it looked like a holding device, maybe for some sort of small cube. It was too small for a datapad.
Xan, with his limited training in the field of sensing things, could not get a "read" from the device up ahead. There was too much life here; the planet was teeming with it. Without the knowledge of how to focus on a single spot or person, Xan knew that he wouldn't be able to pick out anything at will from the surrounding environment.
Kovin, seeing this, decides to reach out and seek the truth about what lies before him.
Seek roll: 2eF 2 Light Side, 1 Dark Side

What do I find?
"Nothing ventured, nothing gained," thinks Kovin. "Old thing's taught me everything I need anyway, and there's a whole galaxy ahead of me." Stepping forward, he withdraws the ancient and battered crystalline cube from his pack and places it into the claw atop the pedestal.
The Jedi in the group recognized the object as an ancient holocron.
I'll let that sit for a moment...
Maya looked from the ancient cube now on its resting place to Kovin. Her expression was that of amusement. She had not known Kovin had such an artifact in his possession.
"That's a holocron isn't it? I've only seen one before. But that one was triangular, not square. Neat!"
Edited by kaosoe"Oh this old thing? I found it in a temple I was exploring long ago. It flickered on when I touched it. Some ancient Cerean was spouting fonts of knowledge about what in retrospect was probably one of your lightsaber forms. But it seemed right for it to go here."
"A Holo-what? A hologram?" Firan asks, puzzled, still not totally sure how anything this far in the jungle is receiving electricity.
"A holocron,"Seifer explained, "is a device patterned on the neural pathways of a Jedi master as a way of passing on teachings and techniques."
