So as we all know near the end of this year, more likely next year, we will be getting our hands on Return to Hoth which will take place during the events of the film, or at the very least the first half or so of it. Likewise, a fair number of people have been debating whether or not we will get some tie in with Episode 7 to help gain the interest in the game. Personally, I feel that Imperial Assault should at least wait until Episode 8 if not near Episode 9 before putting out content for the new trilogy. Instead of focusing on the sequel trilogy I think it is important that we finish up the original one first. Yet we also know that we will be gaining new Star Wars films set either before or during Episode 4.
Therefore, wouldn't it make more sense to focus on this time period in between releases for the original trilogy expansions? That way we can cover events in Rebels, which may entice some of the fans into the game, as well as provide an easier tie in with next years release of Rouge One?
I suspect that for the Rebel's crew it could be broken down into:
Kanan and Ezra (Force Sensitive Pack, done in a similar way to the R2 and 3PO pack)
Hera and Chopper (Ghost crew pack, alternatively they could combine this and the Zeb and Sabine pack but I suspect they would prefer to break it up like this.)
Zeb and Sabine (Bruisers pack)
Granted with this I think that the majority of the first expansion packs for their first set would be taken up with these allies, which would still limit some of the options for Skirmish in regards to Rebels as the Imperial continue to get lots of 2 and 3 figure sets.
Of course this leaves the question as to who and what we would gain for the Imperials and Scum factions so here are some of the possibilities:
Imperials:
Tarkin (Seeing as he was alive during the time and has a couple guest appearances. Plus a little to iconic not to do but, then again we aren't getting General Veers in the Hoth expansion so you never know.)
The Inquisitor ("Sith" like option.)
Agent Kallus (Hopefully he would be made as single mindedly focused as his X-wing counterpart.)
New Inquisitors (We don't know anything about them but give it some time.)
Imperial Cadet Squad (Might not be used due the implication of effectively attacking kids, same reason as to why they may not be used by the Imperials as unless they were cheaper than Storm Troopers what would be the point?)
AT-DP (Another Imperial Walker, but it might be a little too big as it stands taller than an AT-ST)
AT-RT (Not in the show but is in the FFG RPG series and could be put on the same base size as a Nexu, with either a scout trooper or to tie it in more to the show have it be an Imperial Combat Driver, http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_combat_driver )
AT-PT (Again Not in the show, but again in the RPG and would be cool to see.)
Scum:
Frynock (Another beasty option to add to Scum lists, http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fyrnock )
Vizago (Lothal crime lord, http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cikatro_Vizago )
IG-RM Droid (The part I would want more seeing as they are based of the original IG-88 concept art from ESB. Plus add them with IG-88 and the HKs coming in Return to Hoth the droid rebellion is inevitable http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/IG-RM_bodyguard_and_enforcer_droid )
Hondo Ohnaka (Seeing as he is coming back in season 2.)
Cade Bane (He may not be from the Original Triology but you have to admit he was one of the best parts of The Clone Wars)
Rebel:
Fulcrum (In the event someone doesn't know the character's identity)
Veteran Clone Troopers (Seeing as Rex is coming back, plus gives the Rebels more Skirmish multi figure units.)
Of course one selfish request of mine would be RX-24, who shows up in episode 2 for like 30 seconds, but I doubt that would happen. But what other ideas do people have for this timeline be it figures, tiles, or areas to explore?
