300 epic raider build help

By Krynn007, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Trying to find a good build with the raider to contend with a Tantive and probably 4 bwing and biggs

Had a 400 Pt game and again was a lot of bwings

Was a tough fight for the imperial

The Imps don't quite have a ship with the cost,hp and firepower as a bwing

Looking at maybe 2 tempest with accuracy corrector and proton rockets and maybe 3-4 scimitar with plasma rockets and cluster

To help the bombers thinking of using the coordinate action and targeting coordinator for another to hand out two target locks

Again though I wonder if this would be enough.

I believe I have a shuttle in there with the Emperor and fire control systems.

And couple of ties.

What kind of a loadout and squad would you think?

I'm thinking my opponent may have 10 ships escorting the Tantive.

At least 4 b, biggs and two awings with prockets

I went with the Raider and an eight ship fighter escort... Didn't go well for me but it went down to one-on-one fighter battle. My escort was:

Howlrunner with Swarm Tactics

3x Obsidian (I was expecting generics... he didn't fly any!)

Dark Curse with Stealth

Carnor Jax with PTL, Hull Upgrade

Royal Guard with PTL, Hull Upgrade

Juno Eclipse with Veteran Instincts, Stealth, Title and Advanced Targeting Computer

Raider had two ion cannons, quad, shield tech, Needa, Instigator title, engineering team.

The Raider took a lot of hits and dealt some nice blows. The ions on the corvette were very important for keeping his energy levels low...

Juno did most of the work... Killed Han in the Falcon, forced Wedge into a hard turn to evade - straight into the path of the corvette, scored the killing blows on each section of the corvette, splashed Dash

Come to think of it... that's all but two of the ships he brought. Tycho died when he ran into the TIE swam led by Howlrunner, and Jake put the killing blow on Juno who was running around with only one hull left for half the match.

I'd fly it again - escort unchanged. I would tweak the Raider though, and I'm willing to sacrifice the stealth on Juno and downgrade the Obsidians to do it. Tarkin would be nice.

As to the Emperor... uhg. He takes both spots and that shield tech saved me more times than I care to admit. I hesitate to put him in a shuttle as it's a target, but could be worth it. It's 30 points at the lowest though!

This is actually what I love about him most - that he's a target (and 29 points, FWIW)! Like people forget that the shuttle hits as hard as a B-Wing if you let it get you in arc, and even if if it's not shooting at anything I'm all for it absorbing damage that maybe should be directed at other targets. To me it's like an inverse Doomshuttle because you know it's gonna die but it's about how much damage you can absorb with it via its own HP and the Emperor's guaranteed evade for a more important ship. I find I don't actually use him for attacks very often 'cause your red dice are more efficient anyway. Just my perspective!

If you use it as a trap that bleeds the opponent bad on the way in, I agree. If they ignore it, heck, even better.

If my buddy decided go with bunch of high ps ships that wouldn't be so bad

But I expect to see 4 bwing biggs and probably few other surprises

My problem is I find there isn't much for the empire to compete with that much hp/firepower.

Go with ties they die easier, and don't deal enough dmg.

Go with bombers which I'm considering but that leaves me with less ships than desired.

Interceptor/fel/vader advanced, again little more expensive.

Same goes for defender and firesprays. (prefer firesprays over defender)

Punisher way too expensive for what I want.

Shuttle is a solid choice but I only have one, and two having a lot of large bases I'm epic games can get In the way more and I find can be a pain deployment.

Thoughts/suggestions as to what to bring?

I know if I was flying rebels I'd go with the bs because they are awesome lol

Ok thoughts on this please

Raider Fore

Quad laser

Engineer team

Aft

2x quad laser

Captian needa

Targeting coordinator

Impetuous

2x scimitar

Extra munations

Plasma torpedoes

Fel

Target computer

Ptl

Title

Autothrusters

Sigma

Stygium Particle Accelerator

Howlrunner

2x academy

Tempest

Title Accuracy corrector

Proton rockets.

I am not sure about this list

Has some punch but very squishy and that is my concern against a list full of bs

Open to suggestions

Imperials are going to be squishy compared to rebels. Use your mobility.

Thoughts. Your raider is very short ranged. Toss an ion or turbo laser on the aft.

I really didn't find Needa that useful. Trade him for a shield tech.

I like having the bombers. It'll give your opponent something to worry about, and if he ignores them they will kill the corvette.

As to your individual fighter selection... What's your attack plan? Mine was a column of fighters to shred the escort, with Juno and Dark Curse flanking. Yes, I totally went to ignore the corvette until I thinned the escorts. Your game plan is everything.
