I'm an insurance broker, it's as exciting as it sounds......
What do you do for a "day job?"
Paramedic. Probably the only one on this forum.
I wouldn't be so sure. I know quite a few avid gamers working in different branches of the emergency services.
Myself, I worked as a lieutenant fire fighter for fourteen years, but had to leave the service when I moved to another country. So now I'm fresh out of university (though somewhat older than most newly erducated) as a master of political science and history, who also happens to know how to kick in your door and put out your fire.
I still get hit by nostalgic longings each time I hear sirens, but tell you the truth I miss teaching at the fire academy more than I miss the incident reponse, but unfortunately the language barrier is still too big to do either (nor am I the mean lean fire fighting machine I used to be, by far).
I work nights doing security at an airport.
Plastic crack dealer.
High school Latin teacher. And we do study the hero figure of Luke Skywalker in our history class. Trying to indoctrinate the next generation of SW fans.
Fixed that for you.
Plastic crack?
Too vague, man! What kind of research? (If you talked about it on Nova, I missed that episode).Research scientist.
I'm entering the last year of my Ph.D. in forest entomology/chemical ecology.

I've never been on Nova, you might be thinking of Major Juggler. As for kind of research: Biophysics! My short career thus far has been focused on motor proteins. I did my Ph.D. work on trying to figure out how a particular bacterial nutrient importer works, and right now I'm studying a DNA repair protein.
Plastic crack?
It's worse than crack cocaine because the effects last year's, sometimes decades.
Remote mining, reworks of old abandoned gold mine (5 years rotting), open cut and underground in the middle of Western Australia, at the moment I'm 60 meters down an old open pit removing years of silt and crap, dead cows, old rusty heavy equipment and trying to make it safe to mine. Every day has another challenge that pushes us all to breaking points but I love the challenge!
Plastic crack?

I'm a high school mathematics teacher, Ive taught everything from grade 7 math all the way through Calculus II!
(Statistics is an evil part of mathematics as it can be manipulated to show what you want! Probababilities are cool!)
To keep this XWing related, Ive been trying to figure out cool ways to incorporate this game into my classroom! Geometry and probabilities seem to be the best links!
I'm also a math teacher. ![]()
Gee, where do I start? Been a computer programmer, served in the New Zealand Army, spent too many years in retail and warehousing, and at the moment I'm studying so I can back into teaching computer studies at our local polytechnic.
I think it is funnier to give a short overview of what I did with my life thus far.

A little surprised by the amount of teachers here.
Myself, I teach elementary music. During the week of May the 4th, we spend time talking about John Williams and how music adds to movies. For the occasional side job, I write/arrange music for marching bands.
Formerly an artist at Imaginary Friends Studios, Singapore. Now I'm a full-time freelance artist.
I do a lot work for FFG games. Most are Star Wars related (XWMG, Armada, SW LCG, SW RPG, IA) but a few others are for WH40K Conquest, and at least one piece for Netrunner. If you're familiar with Osprey Publishing I've also done a number of artworks for their Osprey Adventures line of books. I also love Medieval and Ancient history and I've done artwork for military history magazines, although they usually don't pay as well, which is a bit of a shame.
Besides that I've also work with many other clients on a number of other projects but FFG and Osprey are my 2 big ones at the moment.
I may quite possibly be wrong but it does seem like I'm the only FFG artist around that plays with their products:P
Edited by WraithdtA related question: if droids, like those in the Star Wars universe, were invented, how easily would they replace you? They could replace me and maybe no one would notice.
Technology management scum.

Don't recall ever seeing a droid do art even in the SW universe so I guess it's pretty slim? Although I'd be more than happy for them to take over my house chores and taking the kids to school:)
I manage and support physician practice management (billing) software.
I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
I just moved to China. I am a curriculum designer, teaching coach, and teacher.
