The Source story mission: Captured neutral officer question

By nietger, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Hi

After playing THE SOURCE story mission, we had a question about the captured neutral figure. The mission states "A rebel figure can interact with the captured officer to perform the following: The hero and the captured officer each move 2 spaces". My question is, can the captured neutral officer move through imperial figures?

Please note the in the reference guide on NEUTRAL FIGURES it mentions, Figures can move through spaces containing neutral figures at no additional movement point cost. Now is the inverse true, can the neutral figure use that and move through imperial figures blocking a hallway?

Thanks

Since the mission rule says two SPACES, you use the counting spaces part, which has no restriction through opposing figures. So, as long as the space to which the figure moves is vacant, despite hopping over the intervening figure, this is valid.

Wouldn't water still cost 2 movement points and Solid red prevent A figure from moving through a space?

Look up the rules for "Move x spaces". This is different from movement points and doesn't follow movement restrictions for difficult terrain (e.g. the water) and opposing figures but otherwise has to adhere to the same movement rules such as not moving through blocking terrain (red squares).

Correct, you cannot count spaces through blocking terrain (solid red).

You can count spaces through impassable terrain (dotted red).

Counting Spaces
Impassible terrain, figures, and difficult terrain can be moved into
and through without costing additional movement point for this
measurement. This measurement cannot go through walls, doors,
or blocking terrain.
Note that this also means the Officer + the Interacting Character moves through water "for free", as well as Imperial Characters.
If the Rebels lost, I'd replay this mission, as it's a huge advantage to do this.

Wrong reference. "Counting Spaces" is for abilities such as Order and the assorted grenades in the item deck. This does not apply when a figure is actually moving. The only real difference is that you can "count spaces" through impassable terrain, but you cannot "move spaces" through the same.

The Rules Reference text that scott80 mentioned above:

Move X Spaces: If an ability moves a figure a listed number of spaces, this movement ignores movement point costs. All other effects of terrain and figures apply (for example the figure cannot end its movement in another figure’s space). When moving in this way, a large figure’s base cannot rotate and must retain its orientation.
