Death Star / Imp. Navy Troopers?

By hismhs, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Please, please, FFG, give us skirmish-oriented players some new imperial grunts!!

You mean Imperial Engineers or death star troopers? Personaly I think Engineers would be better. These seem like stormtrooper reskins in less armor.

Why would you send in imperial engineers and gunners? Their job is to work with machinery, not run in and shoot rebels. Also, Death Star troopers ARE Imperial Navy troopers.

As for OP, this would be nice, but unfortunately FFG has already made the stormtroopers fairly weak and they are supposed to be elite compared to these guys.

I get waht your saying, but an Imp Engineer could hold his own fairly well in BF2. It would make sense for him to be a support unit, meshing with droids and heavy weapons by buffing them, but a close range shotgun would make sense if he had to resort to combat.

I was actually thinking of get a "Rebel Trooper" set or two and paint them black.

Would there be any mileage in FFG producing a box/squad of four Navy Troopers, rather than the three in the stormtrooper/rebel trooper sets, and then reducing the health of each regular and elite trooper to 2 and 4 respectively (from the stormtrooper/rebel trooper's 3 for regulars and 5 for elite)? That could shake things up a bit, no? Yes, individually, they'd go down more easily, but the extra grunt in the squad could compensate for this in interesting ways?

Even if FFG went with the regular 3-man box/squad of Navy Troopers, and kept the same 3 (regular) and 5 (elite) health ratings as stormtroopers/rebel troopers, could they not surely give the Navy Troopers a worthwhile and distinctive new ability? Any suggestions for what that might be, peeps?

Engineers could have repair ability to use on vehicles or droids

Navy troopers could have shotguns

Interesting idea, but they don't in the films - they are armed with E11s, like stormtroopers. Surely the figure's basic traits need to remain faithful to the trilogy source material, no? Otherwise, it's not Star Wars, surely?

I suspect the rebel troopers' 'Aim' ability is supposed to facilitate 'shoot and scoot' tactics, to mirror their fighting withdrawal aboard Tantive IV. i.e., you can't move and then shoot with the 'Aim' advantage, but you can first shoot with it and then move (probably backwards, away from the nearest surviving enemy figures, to make it harder for them to kill you in their activations)?

So what special ability might Imp. Navy troopers have, inspired by their few appearances in the films? A similarly defensive ability, to mirror their use as sentinels and security operatives aboard the fleet and the Death Star?
