Ah, but is it a swarm?
More of a flock.
A murder of (moldy) crows...

For fun, I like to fly 3x Blue with FCS, and one HWK with TLT, Recon + Crow. I keep the Crow towards the outside of the battle and pile up on focus. Perfect 100pts.
Ooo, I like that one. Once you bank enough focus you can start TL'ing for double modifications on an attack.
Plus, FCS B-Wings might be decent at ace killing.
I actually flew 4 Hawks and a Z. It's decent but you'd be better off with the scum quad unhinged Y-Wing variant. That Z brings less benefit to the list than just having 4 Y-Wings.
A recon spec in each HWK should greatly increase their durability.

I don't know..
a tlt-hwk is okay, especially when I'm short on points. but 4 of them...? seems to be too squishy, IMHO.
blackcrack with or without ace will melt through these in no-time, I think.
time will tell, but I'm more in the camp of 1-2 tlts and something that is more threatening (ace or mini-swarm).
I still do not get what is so "magic" about TLT. You roll three dice. Regardless of how many * I get, the defender takes only one damage IF I get one through at all. Then do it again. I simply do not get it, especially with a focus or TL on a low agility target.
Anyone else notice how the most shortsighted post ever also comes with a picture of a blind man?

You'd think so. In my experience the only way to keep a HWK on the table is to make it a low target priority.

I don't really get it either. I mean I get the mathematics behind it.. but if a match of X-Wing consists of doing nothing but rolling dice and hoping you win through statistics.. I think I rather skip it all together.. why even bother playing. The whole Quad Y Wing TLT's requires the same amount of skill as shaking it off without getting any on your leg. It requires a bit of practice .. but once you get it... you can do it while brushing your teething with the lights off. Barely qualifies as playing or winning if you ask me.
Edited by BigKahunaHwk's are too slow (red 3 bank, no 3 turn), 1 dice primary, and have too little health. It's super easy to get into Range 1 and stay there with a ship that has boost. They will melt to 4+ dice regardless of Recon Spec. I would never take a generic Hwk as a TLT carrier.
This is the problem you are going to run into. Predictability. The HWKs can only go so fast and have a very limited area they can possibly end up. It will be very hard to shake and get a more maneuverable craft out of your donut hole.

This is by no means a tournament list but could be a fun troll list.
4 x Spice Runner + TLT + Saboteur + Inertial Dampeners.
Gives you some options if somebody does decide to move in range 1. If they have damage, you have the option of using Saboteur to flip damage card, or if you want to try and make them fly right on by, toss on the inertial dampners. Again no way this is a tournament list, but it could be fun as hell in a casual game.
The comparison of YW vs HWKs is simple at 25 points a piece.
8 Hull + Shields, 1 Agility and 1 Focus (YW TLT and UH) vs 5 Hull + Shields, 2 Agility and 2 Focus (HWK TLT and Recon). The HWK has a significant higher life expectancy and damage output than the YW. Those focus on defense easily amount to 3 evades if flown wisely.
Given the low PS you will use those focus in defense (vs Swarm) or if unused on the offensive (when playing vs low number of aircrafts).

It's still more skill intensive and more easily countered than seeing where everything has moved to already, maneuvering your fat Han into a (potentially) bad spot, and then boosting away to a good one.
I get the insanity of countering fat turrets with a bunch of Y-Wing turrets, but it's far better than having to counter fat turrets with your own fat turret. The meta is in a far better place because of TLT.
I have an upgrade I call (all cool and such) "Black Hawk". It is a one point joint and adds 1 hull and 1 shield to the lovable Ole Crappy Crows.
This is a reasonable Combat Retrofit in my game... no big deal.
