SLAM

By Wayne Argabright, in X-Wing Rules Questions

"Makes it sound like" is too vague, and I don't see any specific ruling that makes it clear that the section called "choosing a maneuver" should be arbitrarily cut up. When you choose a maneuver, the rules are quite clear in what you're supposed to do. Suddenly claiming that you don't have to assign the dial because "double-attack abilities don't perform the full action flow" lacks any logic. We're not talking about double attacks here.

<shrug> The rules are, sadly, often vague. I'm not "suddenly claiming" anything with the double attack, I'm providing another example where a broad heading (attacking) doesn't necessarily mean you must perform every piece of that broader heading (skipping targeting) when generated by an ability (Cluster/Twin Laser Turret). When you make an assertion about how something works, counterexamples from similar situations can help clarify it. This is a counterexample.

But again, even if choosing must always include assigning, revealing is a separate distinct step which is not referenced anywhere. So the "Text matches choosing!" may change the reason SLAMming bombs doesn't work, but it doesn't actually do anything to make it work (which was the original claim I was responding to).
