Question about boulders - Death on the Wing (SR campaign)

By beatdown, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello all,

What happens when a hero destroys a boulder by passing a might test? Does the OL gets the token back and can place it again at the beginning of his or her turn?

If not, destroying one simple boulder would make to the OL imposisible to have all 10 tokens placed at once, which is one of the victory conditions. Of course, the OL could still win, but will have to trap a hero using boulders to achieve victory, reducing the two ways the OL could win to only one.

Thanks.

If the boulder is removed from the map, it is returned to the overlord's stock of objective tokens and can be placed again.

Winning encounter 1 is very difficult, intentionally. The 10 boulders number is basically a timer to force heroes to rush a bit, rather than taking 20 turns doing nothing.

I have won this encounter before by hitting the time limit by getting Tomble stuck at the entrance using an ettin to throw him to the entrance tile over and over again and not letting him leave. By the time they killed the ettin, it respawned on the next turn and tossed Tomble back to being stuck again.

It's difficult but not impossible.

Yeah, I won this using Ettins too :) Did lose the second part though :P
