Which Version of Dash + 2As Would You Play?

By Deepspace5, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Good day everyone,

After the results of Nationals I am excited to try a YT-2400 build again. I was never a fan of the two ship builds, such as Dash + Corran, and when the ship originally came out I tried an unconventional 56 point Dash list with two Bs. It was nothing like Jeff's list, but was one that did not use the standard PTL + Kyle and Engine. I had some success with the versions I tried, but I never played it in a tournament setting and stuck to my 4-5 ship rebel builds the rest of the season with plans to focus more on Scum after that. Jeff has revitalized this ship for me by covering it's weaknesses in three huge ways and also made two of them an offensive threat (Lone Wolf and APL).

Fast forward to today where Wave 7 is released, I wanted to revisit the YT-2400 in one last tournament tonight before my local store picks up Wave 7 early next week. If they miraculously have Wave 7 tonight I also have a backup plan. What YT-2400 list would you play in a small tournament? On to the lists!

(56) Dash Rendar + Outrider Title + Heavy Laser Cannon + Lone Wolf + Anti-Pursuit Lasers + R2-D2 Crew

(28) Jake Farrell + Chardaan Refit + Veteran Instincts + Push the Limit + Autothrusters

(15) Prototype Pilot + Chardaan Refit

Total of 99 Points

OR

(52) Leebo + Outrider Title + Heavy Laser Cannon + Lone Wolf + Anti-Pursuit Lasers + Dash Crew

(33) Jake Farrell + Proton Rockets + Veteran Instincts + Push the Limit + Autothrusters

(15) Prototype Pilot + Chardaan Refit

Total of 100 Points

I played the latter list with Dash Crew twice last weekend in a casual setting and it was wildly successful. Using obstacles to obstruct the opponent and then not obstruct your own 4-dice HLC shots was brutal for my opponent. Jake's Proton Rocket was also a huge threat in each game. I also like that it is not something that people would normally expect and is rather thematic overall.

IF Wave 7 is in stock at my FLGS, My plan is 56 dash with 2x Rebel operatives and TLTs.

What list would you prefer and why?

I think I'm going to brave it and go with Leebo + Dash Crew...something I do not see often that could be pretty fun. Maybe I'll get some opponents off tilt by hiding behind debris...

How did it go?

A friend of mine ran this list at our last tournament, dubbed "Dash and the A Holes":

YT-2400: · Dash Rendar (36)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Engine Upgrade (4)

· Jan Ors (2)

· Outrider (5)

A-WING: Green Squadron Pilot (19)

Intimidation (2)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Push The Limit (3)

A-WING: Green Squadron Pilot (19)

Intimidation (2)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Push The Limit (3)

The A's were there to block, hence the name. I don't think he had a lot of luck with the blocking part, though.

I'd probably give this a shot. This is the version of Dash that I've flown in the past. The two A-Wings swap in for Corran nicely.

Green Squadron Pilot (19)

Push the Limit (3)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

Wired (1)

Autothrusters (2)

A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Green Squadron Pilot (19)

Push the Limit (3)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

Wired (1)

Autothrusters (2)

A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Dash Rendar (36)

Lone Wolf (2)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Recon Specialist (3)

Outrider (5)

Total: 99

I love this setup, so let me help with few things. Just to consider or get new ideas to get fun ;-)

Eaden Vrill + HLC, Outrider, Nien Numb, Engine Upgrade (Eaden to prevent 1 reroll from Predator) for 50 points

Gold Squadron Pilot + TLT, R-2 Droid <-?-> Green Squadron Pilot + Proton Rockets, Autothrusters, Crack Shoot for 25 pts each

Gold Squadron Pilot + TLT, R-2 Droid <-?-> Green Squadron Pilot + Proton Rockets, Autothrusters, Crack Shoot for 25 pts each

And this is the most freeky list I've done recently ;)

Wild Space Fringer + Saboteur, Outrider, Ion Cannon for 40 points

Prototype Pilot + Proton Rockets for 20 points

Prototype Pilot + Proton Rockets for 20 points

Prototype Pilot + Proton Rockets for 20 points

And list that suits the topic most:

Dash Randar + Predator, HLC, Outrider, Lando Calrissian, Engine Upgrade (with current TLT meta you don't really need PTL so much) for sweet 58 pts

Green Squadron Pilot + A-Wing Test Pilot, Autothrusters, Crack Shoot, Wired, Chardaan Refit for 21 pts

Green Squadron Pilot + A-Wing Test Pilot, Autothrusters, Crack Shoot, Wired, Chardaan Refit for 21 pts

I won both games I played against my opponent with the Leebo list (#2). He was fairly new and was experimenting with some new lists. Now that TFA core set is out, Wired would definitely be an option if I dropped them down to Green Squadron Pilots, but I would want one of them to at least have intimidation. I might even just throw Arvel in there and keep the YT-2400 Dash going on.

why no Falcon + Outrider list? :)

why no Falcon + Outrider list? :)

My original intent was to run the 2400 with two A-Wings to sort of mirror one of my original list ideas when the 2400 came out that used 2 Blues and Dash. Ultimately I prefer 3+ ship lists. For some reason I cannot wrap my head around only having two ships, unless there simply aren't good options for 3+ ships at the time. I actually want to look into getting at least two more As so I can try some 4-5 ship rebel lists with them. With all of the new 1-point EPTs floating around from Wave 7 and beyond, there are tons of options available now.

I usually run Greens with Autothrusters and Outmanoeuvre. They are small targets which are usually ignored for the most part, when you get them behind you they can hurt. Plus with Chaarden Refit they only cost 20 points each.
