Laud Hailers

By cpteveros, in Dark Heresy General Discussion

So after taking a gander through the rules, I noticed that the description for the Laud Hailer piece of gear was notably empty of any in-game effects. While this isn't necessarily a big deal, it would be if your character was a Hierophant, and the Laud Hailer Servo-skull is a part of your starting kit.

Obviously the item is designed to be a megaphone in 40k, but what practical applications does it have in-game?

I would definitely give a bonus to certain social tests where the enviroment is loud, the targets are many or far apart, etc.

Oh and other creative applications!

Have your laud hailer play loud hymns to the Emperor while you broker a sensitive deal with Dr. Kriminal-heretek!

Crank up a feedback screech to frighten off stupid peasants.

Speak remotely while hidden with a booming voice, as your representative stands with closed mouth, looking intimidating as all hell.

etc!

Well, they are megaphones.

There is a rule that you can use your social skills on somebody who can hear you only; so it's an option to mitigate that limitation (not bonus IMHO, but possibility).

Also it can be sound system, as Flail-Bot mentioned.

Or use the Laud Hailer rules from Enemies Within, the ones mounted on SoB vehicles.
