Backstory :
Not much is known about Maya, but there's much that can be guessed.

She was born on an outer rim world; likely a colony planet. Her earliest memories were as a slave cleaning temple floors on Trandosha, until she was 6 when she left. She doesn't talk about the 10 years after, but it must have been then that she learned about her abilities and the ways of the Force.

Her master must have been a poor teacher. She shows little understanding of the Jedi code, and how to properly wield a lightsaber. However, it's clear that she is strong in the Force and was taught how to control her abilities and focus them, though she sometimes shows a lack of restraint in this regard.

Not long ago, she parted ways with her master. It was then that she was found on a remote jungle planet, severely injured and her escape pod in ruins. When Kovin found her, she was delirious. Her last words before losing consciousness was a prediction. She spoke of several points of light in the growing night. These lights would quell the darkness and deliver the morning.

Days or weeks later, she woke in relatively good health; her injuries having been treated. Because of this, she trusts Kovin. Shortly after, the Force had granted her another vision. That day, she joined Kovin on one of his scouting trips. This time it was she who led him. Right to the first of their new allies.

Personality : Maya is pretty closed off and keeps to herself. She's slow to trust, but she cares deeply for those she opens up to. This becomes problematic when her loved ones develop similar bonds to others. Dark thoughts often feed on her anger and jealousy.

Her teachings focused little on restraint and self-discipline beyond controlling her abilities. On a few occasions she has made her companions feel a bit uncomfortable at her lack of restraint, but most of the time, she was ignorant of why it was wrong in what she did. Clearly, she still has some growing to do.

What does Maya love: Maya loves those she is comfortable enough to open her heart to. It's a rare gift that she does not give freely.

What does Maya Hate: Maya hates herself to some extent. But more importantly, she hates the Sith for what they've done to her.

Why is Maya with the party: Maya is initially there because she owes Kovin her life. But she also sees what the group is trying to accomplish and sees a chance to redeem herself.

A former prodigy of the Jedi Order, Xan was forced to go underground when the Republic fell following their betrayal at Revan's hands at the Star Forge. Working with the various rebel groups who eventually coalesced into the Resistance, he serves as a negotiator and a recruiter, looking to acquire the resouces the Resistance badly needs. But it is a constant struggle to avoid giving in to the temptation to oppose the Sith more directly before it is time.

Backstory :

Born to a Corellian Jedi family, Seifer was apprenticed to his uncle, Tobin Halcyon. Seifer exhibited the traditional flaw associated with the Halcyon line, notably he was unable to use telekinesis. He had an affinity for tinkering with machines and was also a talented user of Sense.

Seifer was forced by his uncle to flee when they were attacked by Darth Revan’s Sith Assassins while off Corellia. Seifer was able to meet make his way back to Corellia and went underground with a group of several Green Jedi. Seifer continued his training and began to focus himself on mastering Soresu noting his uncle’s use of Ataru lacked the defensive tools to survive against the Sith.

Upon reaching Knighthood, Seifer left the what remained of the dwindling group of Green Jedi that he had been hiding with as they refused to take action to oppose the Sith openly. Seifer drifted from world to world over the next few years, doing what he could to help the people and oppose the Sith. Eventually he was able find like minded individuals who sought to oppose the Sith.

During his travels, he built himself a lightsaber with a curved hilt. While curved hilts are generally favored by Makashi practitioners, Seifer’s hilt was longer and curved more gently to allow for a two-handed grip when necessary, and that was balanced in a way that allowed it be better utilized during the rapid, defensive, blade work that Soresu demands. At the sabers heart is a Lorrdian crystal, obtained while Seifer was on Lorrd, which created a blade the glowed very light blue.

Fit and agile, Jonas stands close to six feet tall and is possessed of an athletic build, albeit a little on the slender side, his physique the result of both his Jedi training of old and his life so far, especially after the fall of the Order. Opting almost always for a clean-shaven look, at least if he can help it, he is fair of skin with medium-length dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Despite a certain dryness of wit bordering on snark at times, he is compassionate and friendly and with a smile not far from his lips; indeed, saying that he is more often seen with one than without would not be too far from the truth.

Usually seen in simple functional attire, at times complemented by a hooded thermal cloak to keep both heat and cold away, he shows a preference for clothes that are as comfortable and non-restrictive as possible, yet sturdy enough to provide at least a modicum of protection. His other possessions appear meager, amounting to little more than a slugthrower pistol holstered by his right hip and a utility belt containing various useful items within it. Still, there is one more thing he carries on him almost at all times, his lightsaber, which is kept not hanging from his belt but fastened across it in the small of his back and is usually hidden under a jacket or some other piece of clothing, as well as his cloak when he wears it.

BACKGROUND
Donnal Vorn was a warrior, a master of lightsaber combat, but a teacher? Not quite. Patience had never been what he excelled at. Still, it was expected of him to at some point take on a Padawan, an apprentice he would teach the lore of the Order and the ways of the Force to, as well as train him how and, perhaps more importantly, when to use a lightsaber. The idea did not appeal to him quite so much, that much is true, but eventually he relented. Perhaps he came around to realizing that the members of the Jedi Council, who would raise the subject time and again, were right. Or perhaps he simply grew tired of being pestered time and again. So, he would choose a Jedi Youngling to share whatever wisdom and skills he had accumulated thus far. But he would do so on his own terms, the choice being his and his alone.

Being a warrior first and foremost, though one tempered by the teachings of the Order and the Jedi Code, the Jedi Knight knew the dangers and pitfalls combat could lead to, and those were not simply injury or even death. Arrogance, anger, passion, hatred and more were unseen foes that one might come to regard as allies if they were not careful, vigilant. And allies such as those could very easily lead to the Dark Side. So his apprentice would have to be someone who was kind and compassionate, level-headed. His apprentice would have to be someone who not only possessed the skill to wield and use a lightsaber, but also someone who would not lose himself when fighting with it. After all, Donnal himself saw that at times he enjoyed a duel perhaps a bit too much, a slippery slope if ever there was one as far as he was concerned. And perhaps the reason why he avoided teaching a Padawan what he knew. It took him a while, but he did manage to find that someone in a boy by the name of Jonas Cray.

Jonas showed not only skill with the lightsaber, but incredible aptitude at not just following instructions well, but actually understanding and absorbing techniques and making them his own after seeing them enough, though the time and repetitions needed did vary depending on the complexity of the technique. Still, he had the makings of a great duelist, as good as or perhaps even better than Vorn himself. Despite it though, the boy was neither prideful nor quick to draw his lightsaber; though when he did need to do so, he did it without anger, remaining focused on the fight at hand but without passion fueling his strikes. It was as if he was seeing every duel, every fight, even those avoided and never started, even those he lost, as a chance to learn and hone his skills. Suffice to say, Donnal Vorn was quite pleased with his choice of a Padawan and perhaps more than a little proud when that Padawan made his first lightsaber under the Jedi Knight's tutelage and guidance.

And then came the Battle of the Star Forge, a battle Jonas' Master joined, as he and many other Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters fought alongside Republic forces only to be betrayed by Revan. That was the last time he saw Donnal Vorn, who, like many others of the Order, never returned. He had little time to dwell on the tragedy though, as soon after chaos followed. With the Republic broken and the Sith without a doubt ready to descend upon what Jedi remained, he, along with others, fled the Temple at Coruscant as the Jedi Order scattered to the four winds.

Finding himself alone, he managed to board a ship about to leave the planet, its destination the last thing that interested him then. Instead, his mind was still reeling from everything that had transpired in what seemed like so short a time. And prominent among his thoughts the fate of his Master, for the young Padawan did not feel him die. He expected a feeling of pain, of loss if that were true, if Donnal Vorn had perished, but there was nothing. Was he still alive, having managed to escape death only to fight or at least resurface another day? Had he indeed died so very far away that even through the Force Jonas would not have been able to feel his demise? Or had he fallen to the Dark Side, having given himself over to the fighting he had admitted he enjoyed perhaps a little too much?

These questions are still unanswered twenty years later, though Jonas does not bring them to mind quite so often anymore. Having used his lightsaber, or even the Force for that matter, little if at all since his fleeing the Temple and Coruscant, he has been moving about ever since, not staying on one planet for too long, and generally laying low, using his wits and skills and taking odd jobs here and there to make ends meet. Still, he has not forgotten the way things were and he still keeps the Jedi Code alive in his mind, trying to live by it, or at least as much as he can given the circumstances, and to lend aid when aid is needed, though he does try to do so without attracting too much attention to himself.

But perhaps the time is coming, if it has not come already, that he can no longer keep on avoiding attention, that he must make a choice. For he has heard whispered talks of a Resistance.

BACKGROUND

Kovin Daur was born in the year following the Great Defeat. His parents were refugees from colony worlds along the front line, and while fleeing with their infant child from the Sith they were taken in by an apparently generous gentlebeing named Zorval the Hutt. However, their apparent salvation did not work out how they'd hoped - Zorval enslaved Avrak and Shial Daur, forcing them to work in his mines with thousands of other displaced refugees. Kovin, just a child, was luckier. He grew up in the labour camp with the other children, climbing trees, scrambling over rocks and exploring the boundaries of the vast labour camp. Eventually, a particularly active bit of exploring led to him nearly being shot for leaving the camp. However, Zorval's majordomo intervened to have the child spared. He was welcomed into the Hutt's household to help the corpulent crime lord fulfill his passion - hunting rare and endangered species. Kovin would comb the wilderness, reporting on the location of such precious creatures as Zorval desired - which the Hutt would then vapourise with a landspeeder-mounted disruptor cannon from several hundred feet in the air. To the fourteen-year-old Kovin it was just a game, and he cherished the approval of the Hutt and his staff. They taught him to read and write, how to map the stars, and even began training him to be Zorval's eventual pilot.

However, one night Kovin was ushered out of bed by his parents. In the cold light of dawn he found himself rushing across the camp, his parents fearful of discovery. Breaking through a gap in the camp's perimeter fence surrounded by a half-dozen armed slaves, the confused child was ushered onto a landing pad towards a fleet of beaten-up old ships. Many other slaves were there, squeezing into bulk freighters under the supervision of a Snivvian and his Trandoshan assistant, but Kovin was instead hurried towards a smaller, battle-scarred, orange-hulled twin-engine freighter. He was almost at the ramp when the Hutt's enforcers found them. Hundreds of slaves had yet to board when the ships were forced to leave. Kovin's mother was mortally injured in the crossfire, and on reaching orbit the situation did not improve as a Hutt battlecruiser damaged the ship's hyperdrive. There was only one solution - enter the last saved hyperdrive coordinates, and hope for the best.

The journey blasted the ship from the Expansion Region into the Deep Core, finally bringing the ship out of hyperdrive over a forested world not marked on any star charts. Kovin watched as the ship began to drop into the ship's gravity well, the other slaves onboard desperately trying to get the engines going again. It was no use, and the ship crash-landed on the planet. By some miracle Kovin survived, but he was alone. He had a broken leg, which he splinted with a tree branch that to his surprise grew with him. It progressed from splint, to crutch, to walking stick, to eventually becoming a staff he used to support his weaker leg and to fight the world's predators. As the freighter's emergency supplies ran short he salvaged what he could and set out into the wilderness.

The world was a mysterious one, and it set an odd feeling about Kovin. Soon he found he could sense things - the presence of living creatures, air currents in the tunnels combing the mountains, even the minds and thoughts of certain creatures around him. It was in this way that he encountered and tamed a juvenile tusk cat, naming it Zelt and working with it to hunt prey to feed himself. He also sensed the location of a mysterious gemstone, which taught him of an ancient order of warriors and one of their forms of combat. This he practiced with his stave, learning the use of cunning in combat. He soon came to see himself as protector of the living creatures around him, guarding them from predators that might seek to disrupt the balance around him, as well as from other ancient threats dwelling in the forests and passes that might destroy his beloved home. The loss of everyone he had ever known at the hands of the Hutts gave himself a burning hatred of them, as he felt betrayed by their change from kindness to cruelty. And so he lived for five years, with no company but a tamed tusk cat and a holographic projection, until on his nineteenth birthday when he saw the fire in the sky, and the first new visitor arrived...

DESCRIPTION

Kovin is 6'2" and has a physique that is slim and muscular without being bulky - an active lifestyle and natural diet mean that he is whipcord-thin yet obviously strong. He is handsome by any standard in galactic society, possessing brown eyes, vibrant red skin and a muted white pigment across his skin that breaks up the outline of his body, aiding hunting.

Kovin is marked out by possessing a rare fourth montral, which bears a dappled pattern that further aids his ability to hide and hunt, while the additional montral improves his spatial awareness making tracking easier.

Kovin bears few scars - little more than the trappings of a life in the wild. However, he has a slight but noticeable limp in his right leg from where he broke it in the crash that left him shipwrecked. However, the fact that this seems to disappear at times, coupled with his natural agility, leave some to question whether it is an affectation intended to make him look more vulnerable than he is.

Finally, he wears a bandage wrapped around his right wrist to conceal the brand marking him as a slave of Zorval the Hutt, as well as a Togrutan charm necklace that once belonged to his mother which he wears as decoration.

Backstory :

Firan was born on Concord Dawn in Mandalorian space, but was orphaned at a young age when the Jedi led by Revan killed his parents in the war.

Like many in his clan, Firan ended up working as a mercenary. But after years of fighting for only himself, he found himself yearning to fight for something greater. He had a chance now to change the galaxy for the better, and, more importantly, have his revenge.
