That's 15 seconds that's way cooler than it has any right to be! :)

Image: I think we're all in agreement here.

I imagine Lorne has an entire hard drive full animated gifs. Sorted and grouped by reactions.

Good googly moogly!!!

Anticipation for this movie grows. I haven't done a midnight showing of a movie in nearly 3 years but Star Wars may be a midnight madness kinda day.

Doesn't give much away, does it? (not that I want it to)

It shows us a BLUE lightsaber

Agreed. Though if only to avoid any major spoilers that will show up anywhere online.

Rest assured, if i can't make it to a midnight showing, my household WILL be on media blackout. No TV or internet till i see it.

Is that Anakin's/Luke's lightsaber?

Good question.

At first when I saw the first "official" poster released at D23 with Finn holding his lightsaber I thought it didn't look like Anakin/Luke's but looking at it again it could be...the new "teaser" does show the black "fins" so maybe it is.

Finn always looked too short to be a stormtrooper.

Finn has the fins, like the Graflex saber Luke inherited, but the emitter is clearly different -- you can see a band encircling the blade, a style we haven't seen in the films heretofore.

Or, and this is grasping at straws [/sarcasm], the light from the blade is reflecting in the polished metal of the hilt.

Is it me or does Finn kinda sorta resemble the Force Emergent from Age of Rebellion?

Yeah that's pretty much my first reaction to seeing the picture in the book

So the half-hood appears to have a hole in it?

Are the black "fins" actually fins? It's hard to tell if the black part is sticking out or it's a silver metallic frame around a recessed black area. There is also a nub that sticks out of the bottom that is not on the Skywalker saber, unless it's the ring hanging on the bottom that morphed into more of nub during the freeze-frame?

But, we have concept art of Finn with a lightsaber that seems identical to the Skywalker lightsaber. We also have the scene with Leia in Force Awakens being handed a saber that appears identical to the Skywalker heirloom.

Unless we are looking at two different lightsabers (far-fetched), I think it's just some shody work in the latest scene that wasn't meant to be freeze-framed and gone over by volunteer Star Wars intelligence analysts. It's the Skywalker saber imho.

What's the latest rumor/theory on how the ESB lost-at-Bespin saber ends up in Force Awakens?

Sturn, i agree. The lightsaber is clearly Luke's that he lost on Cloud City.

The freeze frame is blurry enought that the light from the blade is reflecting to give an illusion of a "ring." The nub is the belt ring in such an angle that it appears a solid protrusion.

Yeah, figuring this is Anakin's lightsaber, only we're seeing it from a very specific angle.

Could also just be that it's a remake of the original prop and simply looks a little different, much as they did with Vader's armor for RotS in contrast to the OT versions.

Then again, who knows what kind of wear and tear that lightsaber's been through since Luke lost it in ESB. Maybe somebody needed to do some reconstructive work on the emitter, thus causing it to look different than what we're used to.

IIRC, in the original prop, they took a handle from a Graflex camera flash and glued on wiper blades as the “fins”.

If you Google “graflex camera handle” you’ll get plenty of images that look like they are unaltered handles from a Graflex camera flash, and give you an idea of just how little they changed that to turn it into the “lightsaber” that Obi-Wan hands to Luke.

Wow.

That's hilarious. Thanks.

I was speaking of the saber in the Finn picture btw. The Skywalker sabers from past films obviously have black fins sticking out. It was just hard to tell in the fuzzy Finn picture if the black part was raised or the silver part was when trying to figure out if it was meant to be the Skywalker saber or not.
