I have 2 questions on the K4 Security Droid:

1. While flying the 666 I receive the crit Damaged sensor array (you cannot perform the actions listed in your action bar) and I have K4 as crew. I don't think that K4 will allow me to take the target lock, but as I was reading the FAQ is states that I can get these (in this case target lock and focus) actions through other means. The question is will K4 assign me a target lock even with this crit?

2. I perform a 2 hard turn (red) and receive a stress, I also fly through a debris field and receive another stress for a total of 2 stress. I perform a green bank the following turn leaving me with 1 stress and unable to perform actions. Will K4 assign me the target lock because I executed a green maneuver even though I am still stressed and cannot perform actions?

The K4 lets you acquire a Target Lock, not perform a Target Lock action. So stress or even the inability to perform a Target Lock action shouldn't effect it.

Always look for the "action" key word on cards like that. If it says to perform a free target lock action or perform a free focus action, then you're going to be restricted by the usual rules regarding actions and stress and damage cards that prevent actions.

In K4's case, there's no action involved, you just acquire a target lock. It would be the same if you had an opportunity to assign a token (focus or evade, etc) without performing the action normally associated with it. Assigning a token would not be restricted by the usual action rules, either as you're not being instructed to perform the action to get it.

It's a key distinction within X-wing, and it can be quite an important one.
