Looking to get into this game, but I have a concern about playing area. The rules state you need a playing area 6' by 3'. Most 6 foot tables are only 30" wide though.

Do most people play on standard size tables and sacrifice the 6"? Or do you put two 3x3 tables together? Thanks in advance!

When I was organising for a Gaming Club, we went to our local hardware store, got 'em to cut either 6x4 or 6x3 MDF sheet blocks in half (game depending).

Made them easier to transport, and we just popped them over whatever table we had. Delineated area. Boom.

A lot of people have a flat sheet they put over their regular tables.

I for one went to lowes and got a 4x8 sheet of material and had them cut it into 4 2'x4' sections. I marked off 6" on the sides for cards and such.

When I want to play I get out 3 sections to put on the table.

Total cost was less than $8, and time spent was minimal to get a very suitable playing surface. It stores easily as well.

Alternatively you can get a pair of 4'x3' foldable display boards. Folds up to fit in a small flat space, and costs less than the first option.

I have a 6'x30" table, so I know your pain. I went to home depot last weekend and got a 4'x8'x0.5" sheet of nice plywood. Didn't want to bust out my table ssaw, so I just had them cut it down to a 6x4 then cut that in half, to two 3'x4' sections. I put two hinges on the back so it unfolds into a 6x4 table top with 6" space on each side for each player to put their cards, phone, navigation tools, and drink. I added a line for the edge of play 6" in from the edge and measured out the deployment boundaries for quick setup. I'm going to paint it next weekend, I'll post some pics soon if anyone is interested.

I got a couple of presentation boards from office depot and taped them together for make a regulation size playing area. Total cost was around $10 including some paint to create starfield and nebula. Bonus is that it folds up nicely for easy storage.

I have a true 4x 6 table, but I only have one 3x3 playmat. It's like having water with no cup.

I am lucky enough to have a pair of folding tables, each 96" x 30", and a game room large enough to hold them. This gives me an 8' x 5' gaming space. I have 2 thin panes plexiglass (each 60" x 30") on top to eliminate the seam of the two tables. On top of that I have a huge vinyl hex mat. This works pretty darn good. I just roll out my 6' x 4' star mat on top of all that and use plastic tape to mark off 6" on either side. However someday I'd love to either build, or have built, a really nice custom gaming table.

I'm in the table top group. 3 pcs of 1/2" Birch sheet cut into 2x4 strips that latch together covered in felt goes over my 3x5 table.

A while ago I bought an 8x4 sheet of plywood (5 ply, gotta have the good stuff) at Home Depot and had them cut it down to a 6x4. I put it on top of my table and I use it for 40k and flip it over and have 6 inches taped off on either side for Armada to make it a 6x3 and have space for cards. The wood went for less than $20 Canadian.

Same problem.

I went to home depot and bought ready cut 2' x 4' by 1/4" deep boards I laid them out on the table and used 2 starfeild maps.

Works well with a six inch overhang to put cards and tokens.
